This is a hoot!!!
The FBI should do the same kind of sting at the Federal level.
I'm sure the same kind of bribes and graft are prevalent there.

BREAKING NEWS:
Seven arrested in statehouse bribery sting.
The Tennessean
Thursday, 05/26/05

Ford allegedly took $55,000, others accused of taking lesser amounts to help a fake computer company.

Four state lawmakers and a former state senator took tens of thousands of dollars in bribes from undercover federal agents in a two-year sting called “Operation Tennessee Waltz,” federal agents said this morning.

The feds set up an undercover business seeking state contracts to recycle computers, and paid bribes to get a bill passed to facilitate it, authorities said.

The lawmakers arrested today are Sen. Ward Crutchfield, D-Chattanooga; Sen. John Ford, D-Memphis; Sen. Kathryn Bowers, D-Memphis; and Rep. Chris Newton, R-Cleveland. The former lawmaker is Sen. Roscoe Dixon, a Memphis Democrat who stepped down in January.

Is this John Ford related to Harold Ford who is running for Frist's Senate seat??
I'm going to google to see if they are related.

Yessir! John Ford is the uncle of Congressman Harold Ford Jr. who's father
Harold Sr. was involved in some financial scandals way back when.
Ethics problems seem to run in this Ford family.

Yeah, they did something similar to a bunch of judges in Chicago
some years ago. Operation Graylord. Put away a whole slew
of bribe taking Judges. Illinois folks, not Federal Judges. They
put away a couple of US Reps though. Rostenkowski of the House
Ways and Means and another small fry (name escapes me) who
hit the crossbar hotel for having an underage squeeze. They still
don't learn though.
