"Before Howard Dean spits out any more barbs aimed at Republicans, he may want to take a closer look at whose shoes he's spitting on.
It turns out that Dean's Democratic Party has a loyalty base that's smaller than anyone thought -- and shrinking.
An in-depth study of 2004 election results shows the Democrats have lost their support among the broad middle class of America. The message broadcast by the party of working families isn't working. And Republican voters, it seems, are everywhere.
In fact, if party chairman Dean wants to stereotype the GOP as simply a "white Christian" party, Republicans could easily label the Democrats as the party of just two types of people -- poor and black.
The loss of middle class support comes at a time when the Democrats seem determined to turn every bit of good fortune into a setback."
