Ali G – Taking a Sledgehammer to Leftist Sacred Cows
Dave Goldiner of the New York Daily News recently wrote Ali G Attacks! Brit comic dishes it out but can’t take it. On the surface the article seems innocent enough wherein Dave points out a recent party attended by G where he objected to a photograph being taken by placing his hand between the camera lens and that of himself and fiancée, while David alleges according to sources he placed his hand on the neck of the photographer. David further writes, “But Ali G, 34, who regularly rips Jews, Christians, rappers and others on his HBO show, was captured on film reaching out to choke Corkery with a one-handed martial arts-style hold.” Terrible Ali G protesting pictures being taken. Even worse is the ignorant sophistry evident in David’s poorly written article. I wonder how much David was paid to write something not fit for a bubble gum wrapper. What this writer fails to grasp is Ali G doesn’t “dish it out” in the manner a casual viewer might assume, so the inverse of “taking it” is hardly appropriate. Ali G might appear at first viewing of his show to attack the individual, yet he is attacking societal ills and popular cultures moral decline. This is heavy commentary by one of the great conservative social analysts of today.
Does David realize the significance of the sketches Ali G performs and the characters he portrays? Whether he is playing Borat the ‘stan’ Muslim who is going door to door seeking political office running on a platform of being able to beat your wife if he is elected, a suburban gangster rapper given access to the inside of the U.N. noting the absence of Disneyland after a quick pan of seats named Sudan, Iran, Congo and Libya, or a gay fashion reporter playing on the innocence of a high school wrestling squad on vacation, Ali G. takes a sledge hammer to political correctness and wakes the viewer from their slumber in a way never before attempted. It is amazing Ali G. is able to gain access to the wide variety of people. Few people understand his humor and its implications, while those on the Left who do understand are very fearful of his success.
Ali G’s comedic genius makes light of our fears while safely showing us societal horror, whereas David Goldininer is a typical leftist writer attempting to be clever, yet revealing the all too common sophistry and ignorance of the left. _________________ "An activist is the person who cleans up the water, not the one claiming its dirty."
