Recently read his latest book and came away with a few impressions. This book was written either very fast and without much reflection or actually written by Bill as opposed to a ghost writer/Factor intern. Anyone who has read The O’Reilly Factor should concur. The first third of the book is about Bill and some seriously unresolved issues with his father. We also learn Bill has 15 plus close friends. Call me a cynic, but more likely 15 great sycophants. Finally, the book is a rehash of his radio and television programs with nothing new to justify purchasing the book. Hmpf, maybe someone else did write this book.
Alas, there are a couple of gems within the book worth mentioning. Nothing Bill said, rather quotes from a couple of those old dead guys who formed our country.
Chapter Five - God Help Us
This chapter discusses how our founding fathers understood the necessity of religious philosophy as defined by the Judeo-Christian 10 Commandments for a society of individuals to successfully govern themselves.
p. 114

We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments." |
One small gripe with the last part, which you would think someone with an advanced degree from Harvard and an army of researchers would of realized. Madison did write the Constitution, and along with Jay and Hammilton wrote ‘the Federalist Papers’, yet it was John Adams who wrote the ‘Defence of the Constitutions’ which was the guiding force for not only the ‘Papers’, but later the Constitution itself.
Save yourself 20 bucks, you just read the only things worthwhile within the book.

Thanks - I'd bought his other books, but I wasn't in any danger of buying this one. The election proved to me who Bill O'Reilly's looking out for, and it ain't us, no matter how much he wants us to think it is.
