It is not so much about Democrat or Republican as it is about integrity and competence. Houston has a Democrat mayor and he did a good job with the evacuees of Katrina and now Rita.
What a great opportunity for LA Republicans to make some inroads into LA politics (if they can be honest and able.) When is the next election? |

Excellent point, homesteader. It was the MSM that politicized Katrina. And it's going to be the MSM that's going to resurrect sKerry - if anyone does. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Galveston Mayor is a democrat also. The ole gal got them out with their pets no less and now she's hunkered down on the island to ride it out. Kudos to her and the Houston Mayor and Rick Perry. Let's hope LA gets their act together in the next elections. Can you imagine if New York had Nagin and Blanco on 9/11, yikes. |

The same litmus test could be applied to most politicians on both sides of the aisle with the same result.
Leadership was never developed in the halls of a legislature or Governor's office. They come to the job with whatever they bring with them. Many times they show up at the job with no tools in their leadership toolbox.
Think for a minute the facts about the average Democratic candidate:
Pleasant looking. (I'm stretching here.)
Most likely a lawyer by trade.
May have been the kin of another notable democratic politician.
Made outrageous promises to the voters without substance and then voted the way of left leaning special interest groups (Where the real money is.).
Became very wealthy in spite of the paltry public income they recieved.
