Last Saturday I attended the Marine Corps Birthday Ball; I now work
for the Army, my boss is a Marine, my office is in an Air Force
building, and our warrent is from the Navy, so I see all types.
This was my first Marine Corps birthday. Lots of dress blues and 1
officer for every 20 enlisted men. I saw a lot of privates with a lot
of medals; some stories to tell. One private with a whole lot of
medals apperantly goes up and down and was on his down cycle.
The guest of honor was a Brigadier, in command of the newly formed MEU
(Marine Expeditionary Unit)for Special Operations. His orders were
"Every Marine will have a designated driver, and every Marine will be
drunk by the end of this party." I saw him dancing with two young
ladies later that evening.
When we left there were 500 Marines dancing in a Conga Line.
