I've just learned that Anne O'Neill, John O'Neill's wife has died in Houston from an infection contracted during chemotherapy. Anne was a woman of courage and grace, and I consider it a privilege to have known her. I ask your prayers for John and for the O'Neill family.

I saw it too. The poster - Interesting Times - is Scott Swett, our webmaster and VVLF Executive Director.

Prayers for John and the O'Neill family during this most difficult time.

Jim Deal posted this on the Swifties' private cite a little while ago

Jim Deal - Feb 11, 2006
Friends:

Anne O'Neill passed away last evening (Fri. Feb. 10). Anne had been suffering from a lingering illness for quite a while.

Rebecca and I will be packing to leave for Houston for her funeral. We'll be driving to Houston because car rental agencies at airports don't rent vehicles with electric wheelchair lifts on them. My wheelchair alone weighs over 250 pounds.

I'll be out of pocket for the next week or so, but I can be reached by way of my cell phone (xxx-xxx-xxxx) if necessary.

Anne O'Neill's funeral arrangements at not finalized yet. I do know that visitation at the funeral home will be this coming Tuesday, with the funeral to be hold on Wednesday. Currently I do not know the name of the funeral home in Houston that are handling Anne's arrangements.

I will be asking Jennifer Webster to e-mail Jim Deal and Bob Shirley with Anne's final funeral arrangements once they're finalized so they can be forwarded to all Swift communication networks..

Those wishing to send a sympathy card to John O'Neill can do so by mailing it to 1000 Louisiana Street, Suite 1800, Houston, TX 77002-5018.

Please pray for the O'Neill family.

Best regards,
Joe Ponder

Our sympathy goes out to the greatest of the Swifties and his family in their time of grief.

My sympathies and prayers go out to John and his family. I never met either, but was always impressed when I saw John and can only imagine what a sweet lady Anne was.

My sincerest and deepest condolences, John and family.

Anne O'Neill...Your family's demonstration of love of country, courage, dedication and steadfastness under the most trying circumstances was and is of epic proportion and import. We owe both you and John a debt that can only be paid in the pages of American history as yet unwritten.

Few may boast of a life so well spent.

My sincerest gratitude and condolences to John and his extended family.

Houston Chronicle
Anne Bradley O'Neill

....."She believed that God proved through her rich life that we need not become the bad things that happen to us. Most recently, she arose from a kidney transplant to assist the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth's crucial effort in the 2004 Presidential Campaign. Their No. 1 bestseller Unfit for Command was dedicated to her courage"......

America has lost a true Patriot with Anne's passing, God bless them both

I am so saddened for the O'Neill family. John and Anne O'Neill exemplified love and dedication for each other and for our country during very harrowing and difficult time in their personal life. I recalled this wonderful interview on the Rush Limbaugh show when he spoke of donating his kidney to his wife:

Quote:
JOHN ONEILL on RUSH LIMBAUGH 8/23/04
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We'd like to not waste any time and welcome to the program John O'Neill, who is doing yeoman's work and some would say the Lord's work, in this presidential campaign. Mr. O'Neill, thanks so much for giving us some time. Let me ask you a question. I talked to my brother -- and I did not know this -- he said that you're in the middle of this intense book tour, and, of course, you've got everybody, half the country, the Democratic Party gunning for you. You just donated a kidney to your ailing wife and you're in the midst of your recovery still doing all this?

O'NEILL: I did. Rush, the greatest thing I ever did in my life. I gave my wife a kidney on February the 12th which was a fabulous thing for my wife and I, and something I'm very proud of.
And this isn't perfect timing for me, but I've done fine with it all.

RUSH: Well, you're bearing up just marvelously well. I know you're everywhere, and you're in demand, and you're trying to meet as many requests as you've got.......

~SNIP~

RUSH: Well, you are certainly one, and in the eyes of many in this country you're doing the Lord's work today, and for them I'll say, "God bless you," and because you're incurring a lot of personal assaults, personal attacks, as are your men, and as you just said you're doing it because you believe it, and you're willing to undergo it and take it. So we appreciate the time that you've given us today. We appreciate what you're doing and support your effort, and wish you the best in the coming months, and the best to you and your wife, too, and your health.

My condolences, love and gratitude to the O'Neill family.

Mr. O’Neil, I am sorry for your loss and honor your wife’s passing to the great beyond.

She is so very beautiful in the photo's I've seen.

I am sure as with any spouse of histories great soldiers, her contribution to this cause here at Swift Vets must have been immeasurable.

God Bless you sir, I hope one day to shake your hand, God Bless,

Sincerely John Emory Michael

She had beauty both inside and outward. Always smiling, gracious and so loving to John. Most of us did not know the story of her medical history and she never showed any anquish, pain or feel sorry to herself.

Knowing what I know now, I feel she handled her life the same as Jacqueline Kennedy in her dealing with what life and the problems that came with it and she never complained. Such a classy lady.

From Powerline...

Quote:
Anne O'Neill, RIP

From Laura Armstrong comes the sad news that Anne O'Neill, wife of Swiftvet John O'Neill, has passed away. O'Neill fought Wegener's disease, a rare and lethal immunological disorder, for 25 years, becoming the longest-lived survivor of that disease. She arose from a kidney transplant to assist the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth's efforts in the 2004 Presidential Campaign. Their bestseller Unfit for Command was dedicated to her courage.

UPDATE: Bruce Kesler pays tribute to his friend (you'll need to scroll a ways to find it).
