From today's Best of the Web:
Kennedy writes that preemptive war may be justified to prevent ''an imminent attack on our country." But he puts the Iraq war in a different category that he calls ''preventive war," which he condemns.
''The premeditated nature of preventive attacks and preventive wars makes them anathema to well-established international principles against aggression," Kennedy writes in ''America Back on Track," which is scheduled to be released April 18.
Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment due to health problems. Her medical condition is stable.
Dear Mr. Kennedy,
Your "well-established international principles" work so well that they've created a few million new Mary Jo's in the past few years - for example, Durfur. Except those Mary Jo's are dying not only by drowning, but also by machete, sword, gun, stoning, beheading, disease, starvation, and other forms of butchery your esteemed "international principles" are about as effective against as - say - you were at Chappaquiddick.
To hell with "well-established international principles." We, those truly concerned for the oppressed, are changing the rules.
In the meantime, go have a Vodka or three. You'll feel better (and those pink elephants will stop bothering you for awhile).
