Well, they re-elected Nagin as mayor of New Orleans.
I guess Forrest Gump was right. Stupid is as stupid does.

If they get hit with another massive hurricane, they better not come running to me for donations to help.

After his poor performance after Katrina and throwing all the blame towards the Federal government, Forrest Gumps words ring truer than ever.

As Ron White’s new DVD says, “You Can’t Fix Stupid.”

I've always thought the voters of Louisiana (and especially NO) were a unique lot. Louisiana (and especially NO) has for far too many years been a captive of corrupt politicians, and if there's any state that has become the welfare ward of the United States, it has to be Louisiana. Politicians there apparently get elected based on their ability to extort money from the Federal government.

But having said all the above very unkind things, it would probably be well to remind ourselves that yesterday's election was a runoff between two really terrible choices - both losers (in my opinion), and both Democrats. The election for sanity was lost prior to yesterday's election - when the Republican Party of Louisiana couldn't put a viable and electable candidate up for election. As long as Louisiana is essentially a one-party state - no competition - this insanity will persist.

IMHO... and just my 2-cents' worth...
