Quote: | Lynne Cheney Blitzes Blitzer
Lynne Cheney has written several children's books. Her latest, Our 50 States, has just been published, and Mrs. Cheney is on a book tour promoting it. Earlier today she did an interview with Wolf Blitzer of CNN. Blitzer, though, wanted to talk about anything but the book. He started by quizzing Mrs. Cheney about her husband's purported enthusiasm for waterboarding, and went from there to repeating Democratic talking points to the effect that she wrote pornographic passages in her novel Sisters, and therefore James Webb's fiction is OK.
I'm long past being outraged at this kind of ambush; what is entertaining about this particular episode is how thoroughly Mrs. Cheney thrashed Blitzer. Hugh Hewitt (has?) the transcript; I recommend it for your reading enjoyment. Mrs. Cheney routed Blitzer so thoroughly that by the end he was reduced to whimpering that she had been too well prepared for his ambush!
You came armed. I guess you knew what you wanted to do. This may be some kind of first in the history of journalism. Actually, of course, Mrs. Cheney didn't come "armed;" she came smart. One of the lessons we take from this sort of mismatch is that many leading journalists aren't very bright. Next time, Blitzer will be well advised to stick to children's books.

I believe that both Dick and Lynne Cheney are some of Americas' finest
People, Couple and Patriots.
I contributed to Dick Cheney's transition fund during that terrible time
when Al Gore nearly toppled our government.
I can't think of smarter people right now.
I was clued into them when I visited Wyoming and spent some time
at the Burnt Bear Saloon. They love them. |

"You came armed. I guess you knew what [I was going] to do."
There, Blitzers statement looks more accurate.
Actually, it isn't a case of she was armed, she is intelligent and well versed in her subject. Blitzer, at best, is a mediocre reporter.
No match.

Looks like she won a "battle of the wits" with an unarmed man.
Couldn't happen to a nicer target, um, guy. _________________ DLI 78

Well that was the best thing I've seen all week.
What strikes me is how quickly Wolf's tone changes when he realizes he's in over his head. He allmost seems apologetic.
As far as reporting the news this infuriates me. If Wolf does not understand nor any of his boss's at CNN that the video in question is a propaganda tool of the enemy---- Then I want to know what war they have been reporting on for the last six years.
The left seems to do stupid real good, right allong side thier hatred of Bush.
Dumb and full of hate, I think I'll catch the next bus to come, not this one. |

As someone observed elsewhere, CNN got what they wanted from this blatant ambush...viewership...if even for just an hour and a half. Apparantly Blitzer was teasing this "interview" almost breathlessly at each commercial break. "Coming up shortly", "Stay tuned for...", "Only a few more minutes of our anti-America leftist swill..." (well, he probably didn't use that last one). |

Lynne maybe. I think Dick's health is more precarious than we know. Sadly, I would not be surprised by a resignation sooner rather than later.

CHENEY PRAISES WIFE'S 'SLAPDOWN' OF CNN'S WOLF BLITZER
Mon Oct 30 2006 13:07:04 ET
In a sit-down interview with Neil Cavuto set to air on FOX NEWS at 4pm EST, Vice President Cheney praises his wife's performance on CNN last Friday when she challenged the cable news network's editorial bias:
CAVUTO: Your wife, Mr. Vice President, created a little bit of a stir in an appearance on a rival news network last week, taking exception to the way that network portrayed the economy, the government, that things are going to hell in a hand basket. I'm sort of paraphrasing here. Actually, she was much more to the point that I'm being. What did you think of that?
THE VICE PRESIDENT: I thought it was great. We refer to it around the house as the "slapdown." And she was very tough, but she was very accurate and very aggressive. And of course, she was in the business for a while. There was a time on that network when she used to host the show they had on for a long time called "Crossfire," on Sundays for a couple of years. So she spoke her mind, and I thought it was perfectly appropriate.
CAVUTO: Did she go into that kind of ticked off because she saw this week-long series on -- one day a time -- everything that's bad with America, and she just said, you know what, I'm going to let it rip?
THE VICE PRESIDENT: I'm sure she'd seen part of it, but, no, I think she just responded to the moment. But she's pretty tough and pretty aggressive, and that's exactly the way it ought to be. She presented, I though, a very strong case.
CAVUTO: Did you talk to her prior to her going on?
THE VICE PRESIDENT: No.
CAVUTO: Did you talk to her afterwards?
THE VICE PRESIDENT: I did.
CAVUTO: What did you tell her?
THE VICE PRESIDENT: I told her I thought it was a sterling performance. |
