It is the talk this morning (afternoon, for you Easteners Wink )

Quote:
In an interview with Jonathan Singer of the liberal blog MyDD.com, Senator Kerry of Massachusetts says that Senator McCain of Arizona, or at least his staff, approached him about becoming his running mate in 2004.
This would be (seemingly) the reverse of the story that's been out for a long time that Mr. Kerry reached out to Mr. McCain. (This Washington Post story from 2004 gives the conventional account.)

Last week Drudge listed four of St John's conflicting statements on this triggered by some Demo operative's forth coming book and revelations about McCain jumping parties in 2001. This may or may not be sKerry's way of posturing as an insider. Who knows? JFK may be telling the truth for a change. Knowing McCain it's no stretch to believe. Democrat motivation in revealing the story is puzzling if not true. They've gotta know this kills St John's chances with the party faithful and killing him this early obviates his role as spoiler in the primaries. A roll the Dems have applauded and enjoyed these past seven years.

Of course the party faithful have no use for St John anyway. No longer the chair of the Senate Commerce Committee he hasn't the extortion money he had in 2000. His poll numbers are in free fall and even the press now realizes his Cow Chip Express' free booze for free press is a poor trade.

As his primary campaign founders he's likely to pursue the Veep slot under Hillary. He won't have the power but will have the chance to make some big bucks and it makes the best use of his circumstance.

Next we'll be hearing Jon CAIRey tell us that also seared in his memory are the Dictators and Presidents around the world who'approached him' in 2004. (Remember he made vague mention back then about 'talking to heads of state')...

The SF Chronicle reiterates the story in a puff piece today.

What's amazing is the editor mentions the Swift Boats without any of the usual disparaging adjectives.
