Too bad the President is too patriotic to play politics with the Iraq issue the way the Commiecrats are. They have handed him their heads on a silver platter but he had to pass on it.
If he were to play the game they are playing, he would have let the bill pass as they wrote it. Then we would have pulled our troops out in a few months, Al Quada would have taken over the country, launched new strikes on American soil in short order, all the countries in the world would know for certain that they can't count on us as allies from that point forward, millions of Iraqis would die, Iran would be empowered in the region even more than they are since our standing as a superpower would be completely impossible to maintain, and then he could have sat back and said, "Hey, you got what you wanted".
And all the American people who have been part of trying to sabotage our efforts to defeat terrorism on a global scale would have to bear the brunt of the outright severely pissed off other half of the country who would rightly blame them for the sorry state of affairs they brought about that America probably would not recover from.
So I'm cheering the outstanding fortitude and leadership G.W. Bush is displaying by vetoing this bill and not stooping to the level of the Commiecrats.
