Diverse opinion is only surpassed by a legally
armed citizenry in the closet of leftist fears. Before
Talk Radio and FOX the most commonly used phrase by
the leftists was 'everybody knows.' This could be used
in any political debate because prior to Talk and FOX
most only knew what Cronkite,Rather etc. told them.
After years of domination and calling the
burning of a recruiting office and the shouting down
of every challenging voice reasonable acts, the left
suddenly claims all others must shut-up because they
cannot be heard. After all, had there been Talk and
FOX in the sixties and seventies a doddering old fool
called 'Uncle Walter' would not have been able to turn
a stunning victory into a battlefield defeat in 1968.
The only TALK they want is their TALK and the only FOX
they want is a Clinton back in the White House intern
chick-coop.

Well, Joke 'em if they can't take a f@@k!
If they truly wanted fairness, then half of all the dinosaur channels "news" broadcasts would be conservative, and half of every newspaper would be conservative.
Hell, I might read my local paper if even half of it made sense to anybody not too stoned to stand up. But not having suffered a botched lobotomy I can't think like a Liberal, so I only buy the newspaper when I have a puppy to train. Like most of you, I expect. _________________ DLI 78

Our country wasn’t founded on fairness. It was founded on allowing each person to have the freedom to seek his own goals to the best of his ability without interference by a government. The fact that some people are better at it than others is just the way it is. Anything less is a loss of freedom. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |

The problem is that liberalism is not a marketable product.
Conservative radio talk shows draw an audience and the along come the sponsors.
Liberal talk radio draws no audience, no sponsors, and loses money.
Liberals want free what Conservatives have to pay for.
Typical. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |

Pence KILLS the Fairness Doctrine...
6/28/07 | Kevin McCullough
Quote: | Congressman Mike Pence led the charge in the House of Representatives that effectively headed Feinstein, Kerry, and Durbin off at the pass. By adding an amendment to the Financial Services and General Government bill.
His amendment will disallow any federal funds to be used to carry out any enforcement of a revived "Fairness Doctrine."
It passed 309-115...
Meaning - even a major chunk of Democrats thought the idea of reviving the ancient rule that would in essence stifle most free speech in on-air capacities - was a really stupid idea.
Pence had this to say upon the overwhelming victorious vote in his favor:
"Today the House of Representatives affirmed that freedom will continue to reign on the airwaves of America. Thanks to the support of 308 of my colleagues, Congress has ensured that the Fairness Doctrine will remain in the grave for now. This was a resounding victory for free speech.

And in the Senate, looks as if McCaimnesty is trying to get ahead of this-- an effort to save his campaign?

McCain introduces talk radio legislation
June 29, 2007 | Mike Sunnucks
Quote: | Arizona Sen. John McCain has introduced federal legislation to protect talk radio shows from the reinstatement of past rules that required dissenting voices be given equal time on their shows.
McCain and fellow GOP Senators John Thune of South Dakota and Norm Coleman of Minnesota have put forward legislation preventing the reinstatement of the 'Fairness Doctrine'.
The Fairness Doctrine was done away with in 1987 but previously required political radio shows to offer equal time to opposing viewpoints as part of their Federal Communications Commission licenses.
A number of Democrats and liberal advocates want the Fairness Doctrine put back in place. They do not like the fact talk radio is dominated by conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage and Laura Ingraham.
McCain said imposing such rules would stifle free speech and there are plenty of political viewpoints in the marketplace.
Conservative radio talkers have criticized McCain for his stance in favor of immigration reform.
