A "Mr. Bill" snowman spouting hosannas to the religion of global warmism iced it for me last nite. I hit the channel changer before the transparently loaded "question" had even run its course.
While I was somewhat prepared for, I guess, a certain level of cutesiness (given the ratings-gimmicky utilization by CNN of a pop culture "you tube" format) and the sheer mindlessness of politics run amok with presidential "debates" du jour fully 6 MONTHS before the first primary activity, the banality that "Mr. Snowman-Bill" lent to the proceedings put me over the edge. What an embarrassment for this country, its would-be leadership and the electoral process considering the gravity of the weighty issues in which we are currently deeply engaged.
Now I understand that CNN plans the same silly pap for the Republicans in September. In my best Mr. Bill voice, "Ohhh...noooooooooo"!
Republicans acquiesce to the puerility of CNN and their pop-culture lunacy at an expense to the process. Our sons and daughters are fighting and DYING in a war of civilizations and we're listening to talking snowmen posing questions to candidates? Have we lost our collective minds? For God's sake America, grow up!
GROW UP!

Ohmigosh, you're kidding!
I thought the youtube concept was pretty lame to start with - always trying to make the debates into "entertainment."
Rush played some clips of proposed questions yesterday and one of them was a near-hysterical young boy ranting and raving that if somebody didn't DO something about global warming soon, we'll all be SWIMMING TO THE MALL!!!!!
I rolled my eyes and cussed about how badly our kids are being greenwashed in school, but at least I knew that a clip so juvenile wouldn't make it into a presidential debate, right? Right?
You said it.... "What an embarrassment for our country." _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

CNN is being told what they can do with their format...

Few GOP Candidates Commit to Debate
Friday, July 27, 2007
Four days after the Democratic debate in Charleston, S.C., more than 400 questions directed to the GOP presidential field have been uploaded on YouTube, as Republicans are scheduled to take their turn at video-populism on Sept. 17.
But only Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and Rep. Ron Paul (Tex.) have agreed to participate in the debate, co-hosted by the Republican Party of Florida in St. Petersburg.
"Aside from those two candidates, we haven't heard from anyone else," said Sam Feist of CNN, which is co-sponsoring the debate with the popular video-sharing site.
Rudolph W. Giuliani and Mitt Romney, both with dozens of videos on their YouTube channels, have not signed up. Neither have the rest of the Republican candidates, including Rep. Tom Tancredo (Colo.), whose "Tancredo Takes" on his YouTube channel draw hundreds of views. Sources familiar with the Giuliani campaign said the former New York mayor is unlikely to participate. Kevin Madden, Romney's spokesman, said the former Massachusetts governor has seven debate invitations over a span of 11 days in September.
"We haven't committed to any of them yet," Madden said.
In an interview Wednesday with the New Hampshire Union Leader, Romney said he's not a fan of the CNN/YouTube format. Referring to the video of a snowman asking the Democratic candidates about global warming, Romney quipped, "I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman."

Ahahahahah! That's GREAT news!
You think maybe the asylum is taking control back from the inmates?
Let's hope Fred Thompson follows suit. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Don't forget, many Democrats opted out of the debates broadcast by Fox and hosted by the Black Caucus, due to pressure from far left groups.
The amazing thing to me is Al Sharpton on this. He calls for Black Voters To Punish the GOP if any fail to show for presidential candidates' forums hosted by the National Urban League and the NAACP.
Yet, no condemnation of Democrats for refusing to show at debates hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus. First, John Edwards, quickly followed by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Nothing like leftwinged double standards. _________________ Clark County Conservative |
