I know some of the volunteers who work at this museum, and I have contacted the administrator. She graciously allowed me to place a link to the museum site on my website. If you are near Punta Gorda, you owe it to yourself to visit this museum. The Vietnam war POW display is worth the visit. There is an exhibit of items from Vietnam Prisoner of War Captain Luis Chirichigno on display, including his "Hanoi Hilton" prisoner PJs. The museum has thousands of relecs that date as far back as the Spanish-American War.
Military Heritage and Aviation Museum
The Military Heritage & Aviation Museum is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that has been in existence for more than seven years. The Museum is located in Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda, Florida.
The Museum is funded by donations and grants, and a paid executive director and administrative assistant are supported by 35 volunteers -- mostly veterans -- who work as Museum guides and help in other ways.
The Museum currently displays more than 30,000 military artifacts from as far back as the Spanish-American War to the current conflict in Iraq. The Museum is a testament to the hundreds of thousands of men and women who have defended our freedom by putting their lives on the line through their military service. _________________ Find the perfect babysitter, petsitter, or tutor -- today! |

Nice pictures. I hope to visit it one day, if I ever return to Florida. _________________ Clark County Conservative |

Charlotte Harbor (the bay, not the town) is also some of the best sailing country south of Chesapeake Bay....Bushes have been known to fish Tarpon at Boca Pass, one of the easiest inlets on the west coast to negotiate in any weather. Miss it...just too far to drive from Orlando to get to the boat!
Oh, and we just had our week of spring, and it's summer now! |
