How cool is this?
A modern day Cavalry Troop actually on horseback.

B Troop to graduate new riders
FORT HUACHUCA — B Troop, 4th U.S. Cavalry Regiment (Memorial) hosts a Cavalry Riding School Graduation Ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday on historic Brown Parade Field.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which highlights Fort Huachuca’s Old West cavalry heritage.
Graduates of the cavalry riding school will be presented brass spurs.

Graduates are:

• Capt. John Mark, Staff Judge Advocate’s Office

• Capt. Franklin Kessler, 309th Military Intelligence Battalion

• Spc. Andrew Tehvand, U.S. Army Medical Activity

• Pfc. Kenneth Burcaw, 111th Military Intelligence Brigade

Following the presentation of spurs, the graduates will conduct their first open field charge led by B Troop commander Jay Hizer. It begins when the bugler sounds the charge. Once the charge concludes, B Troop’s K Battery will fire a round in honor of the graduates.

B Troop advances the interests of the U.S. Army, military horsemanship of the 1880s and the history of Fort Huachuca. They are the only all volunteer ceremonial unit in the Army.

1st Cavalry has an active duty horse detachment @ FT Hood as well.

Price of fuel this might be the way we all get around before long.
I"m thinking about trading my old Toyota PU for a couple of mules and a buckboard wagon.
