A Chance Encounter on a Dock
By JAMES TARANTO
July 30, 2008
How many times has this happened to you?
You're strolling on a dock in Nantucket, minding our own business, when you encounter a group of young women on a boat. And we mean young--they appear to be about one-third your age. Some of them are drinking, perhaps heavily. They ask you to pose for photos with you, and you oblige. Whoever has the camera snaps at least five photos with you in them, which somehow get posted to the Internet. You end up looking foolish and undignified, like a man in late middle age seeking to relive his lost youth.
If your name is John Kerry--assuming you're the John Kerry*--the answer is: At least once. This week.
The Boston Herald reports that Kerry's Senate office put out a defensive statement claiming that the incident was, as the Herald put it, "but a chance encounter on a dock":"The caption on this TMZ gossip website is completely erroneous and insulting, and it should be immediately corrected. As Sen. Kerry and two friends left dinner at the Straight Warf restaurant on Nantucket and walked down the dock, a large group on a boat recognized Senator Kerry and asked if they could have a photo taken. The group came off the boat and onto the dock, took a photo with Sen. Kerry and his friends, and then Sen. Kerry and his two friends immediately walked away. End of story," said Kerry spokesperson David Wade. . . .
As for criticism being directed at Kerry today, Wade also responded today saying, in a statement, that Republicans are just not used to fan support.
"No wonder everyone in the Massachusetts Republican Party was shocked by the photo--they've never had a candidate surrounded by supporters," Wade said. That last comment ought to disabuse Kerry's critics of the notion that he has the maturity of a 20-year-old. A 12-year-old is more like it.
* The haughty, French-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by the way served in Vietnam.

From the sagginess in Lurch's eyes and the goofier than normal look on his face, it sure doesn't look like "a chance encounter."
Then again, the last time he had a "chance encounter" with young co-eds and beer, we heard similar excuses from the New York Times
The question is, does he appreciate the beer more? Or, the young co-eds? _________________ Clark County Conservative |

There are two obvious points that have to be made here:
1.) JFK is merely emulating his hero/mentor/patron saint Teddy Kennedy. Alcohol, young women and an island party are sure signs that you have arrived in Massachusetts.
2.) Who the heck drinks Bud Light anymore?
