What a triple whammy to the fighting forces of America:
1. Bill introduced by John FRAUD Kerry
2. Raids DEFENSE APPROPRIATIONS
3. Used to build an "educational institute" honoring the late Senator Ted Kennedy, one of the most anti-defense cretins ever to disgrace the Senate.

Kerry asks $20m for Kennedy institute

WASHINGTON - A large military spending bill moving through Congress contains a little-noticed outlay for Boston that has nothing to do with national defense: $20 million for an educational institute honoring late Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts.

The earmark, tucked into the defense bill at the request of Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, requires US taxpayers to help the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate realize its goal of building a repository for Kennedy’s papers and an accompanying civic learning center on the University of Massachusetts at Boston campus in Dorchester, next to the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum.

The item is drawing fire from fiscal watchdog groups, who assert that military funds should not be raided to pay for an institution that has nothing to do with improving military readiness.

"Whatever beneficial value civic education may have, it's hard to see why the Defense Department should pay for it," said Laura Peterson, a senior policy analyst at the nonpartisan Taxpayers for Common Sense in Washington. "It would seem the location of this hefty earmark has more to do with the powerful position of its sponsor than [the Defense Department’s] responsibility to educate elementary school children."

Kerry strongly defended the insertion of the $20 million earmark yesterday. He requested that it be included in the $360 billion defense budget, he said, to recognize Kennedy’s long tenure on the Senate Armed Services Committee.....(read the rest at the link)

...Ted Kennedy did more damage to the military while on the Armed Services Committee than a legion of enemy fighters ever could have, and any bill introduced by John Fraud Kerry is usually unconstitutional and an insult in itself, but to try to defend raiding the Defense budget to honor Ted Kennedy is beyond the pale. Maybe they should redirect the $400,000 Obama gave to Gadhafi for his "charitable organizations" run by his son and daughter and put up a "Ted Kennedy" anti-war kiosk in a shopping mall instead.

...how's all that "hopeychangey" thing working for you, Obama drones?

I'd like to have a few hours with those "papers". I think they probably contain (or, perhaps more realistically used to contain) the explanation of how Kerry got awarded that first PH.

My Godson was recently home on leave from Ahfganistan, and was telling us how he had to go out and purchase a decent rifle scope and better protective gear out of his own pocket because the equipment the Army was supplying was poor quality and he said his life depends on this equipment. Now, Kerry the traitor wants to take more money out for Kennedy. I think we should sent Kerry over to finish out the tour he fraudulently got out of and let him use the junk. For those of you that don't know it, when my son came home from boot camp a few years ago he told us that they were told the weapons they were issued were supplied by the lowest bidder, mainly Mattel, the toy company. Our men deserve the best even if Nancy Pelousy has to fly standby.

President Obama will undoubtedly veto the bill, since that's what he promised to do during the campaign Twisted Evil

Perhaps the Edward M. Kennedy Institue will have a reflecting pool out front, with a little bridge over the top.

Like all liberals, Kerry want to make a large "feel good" donation to his friends memorial, but using our money not his.
