With the revelation that newly-elected Democrat NY-23 Congressman Bill Owens Breaks 4 Campaign Promises in first hour in Congress added to comments by Barack Obama that he would risk not getting reelected if he can get his agenda passed into law, I am convinced that the Leftists have a strategy similar to "Jihad". I believe they saw in the 2008 election an unprecedented window of opportunity to elect as many Leftists as possible to Congress, knowing that the election of Obama was a foregone conclusion given that John "reaching across the aisle" McCain would have no chance. They knew that if they could take predominately Conservative seats even for one Congressional term, they could ram as much of their agenda into law as possible, and they had to know they would be sent packing in the 2010 election, but THEY DON'T CARE! So they lose. So what? Owens knows he only has the remainder of THIS Congressional term and NO chance at reelection in 2010 when the VOTERS, not a handful of HACKS in a back room, get to choose the candidates. By the time the Leftists are voted out, they will have completed their mission, and it will take SUPER majorities of Conservatives along with a cooperative President and Courts to undo ANY of the economic and social "timebombs" they will have set to go off in the out years...and STILL Newt Gingrich and the rest of the PATHETIC, INCOMPETENT GOP leadership continues to treat politics today like a parlor game...and ATTACK Conservatives instead of the REAL adversary. We have a greater likelihood of witnessing the Second Coming of Jesus than counting on the GOP to save us from the impending disaster. _________________ Find the perfect babysitter, petsitter, or tutor -- today! |

Owens-- Makes one wonder what was said to him, or promised to him, when he was summoned to the Oval Office as soon as he got to DC ?!?
NY politics are sure in need of fixing, and the new state chairman Ed Cox sure has his work cut out for him if he thinks he's gonna reform this NY party..
Lotta blame to go around..the national committee has been NO help up here in the north country. More of a hindrance. I am in the neighboring district NY22 which was also repub for years, lost first to Gillibrand, then to Scott Murphy last year. Last year was very close, we almost took it back - NRCC ads were so negative that they hurt our candidate alot.
Anyway, if Murphy votes for this healthcare bill his days may also be numbered, and he knows it...was hedging as late as last night.
These bills don't take force until...2-3 years future? IF we an get a new congress in, perhaps some of it can be undone?? _________________ .

The problem is, once it is in place, the chances of getting a Super majority to repeal any of it are pretty slim, and then it would also take a cooperative President. Lawsuits will be filed, and the courts would have to side with us, which is looking less and less likely as the Leftists pack the courts. Don't forget it was the Supreme Court that declared Carbon Dioxide as a POLLUTANT! Without CO2, all life on the planet would cease, but that didn't stop the SCOTUS from becoming pseudo-scientists along with being pseudo-legislators and not only making up LAW, they even made their own SCIENCE. No, we can't let this "Tyrant-a-sore-a$$ Rex" ever come to life; killing it later will be next to impossible. Look at all the FDR "New Deal" and Lyndon Johnson "Great Society" programs that are still eating us alive today and growing to the point that the country will soon be bankrupt. Add this new monstrosity plus "cap and trade", and we will go down like the Titanic. |

As I've said before, including in these hallowed pages, the Republicans simply don't know how to be in charge when they do have a majority. IMO, we have little to look forward to IF the Libs bite the dust next November.
Newt has talked his way out of ever being a force again, and considering what he has been saying, that's not all bad. We are pretty much leaderless, at this point. _________________ No whiners! |
