Republican Scott Brown may be taking over Democrat Edward Kennedy's Senate seat, but not his desk.
An aide says Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry is claiming the mahogany desk on the Senate floor used by Kennedy for nearly 47 years. Until now, Kerry has been seated at the desk once used by Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, the late senator's assassinated brother.

SF Gate

Kennedy left it in the rear of the room. I wonder if 'Lurch will move it forward now?

Leave it to Kerry to attach some sort of significance to a piece of furniture.

Hopefully, after the next Massachusetts election, memories of sitting at that desk will be "seared, seared into his memory." Laughing Wink

Kerry is now down to swapping desk chairs on the Titanic to feed his insatiable appetite for self-adulation and promotion.

With the ONE desk that really matters forever removed from his reach, his godfather and raison d'etre now resigned to the judgement of History, and little or no prospect for further advancement in his esteem among his "peers" (they DO, after all, KNOW what we KNOW), he's running out of symbology and relevance to feed it...but be fed it must.

"Senate Majority Leader" (assuming they'll still HAVE the majority beyond November) is the only plum his ego has left to pick, and (also assuming Reid's likely dispatch come November) watching him politic and overreach for it, then be rejected by his peers is a scenario I can, perhaps, look forward to.

I think he might enjoy a nice view of the ocean while "perched" at his desk.....

P.S. Lest it be missed, the "byline" of this story shouldn't be lost on anyone here...
