While I love the current ad and think it is very effective I would also love to see a revised ad.

It would have in it something like, "Senator Kerry why won't you release all your military records by filling out this..."

Also, I would like to see "witnesses" or "was an eye-witness" used instead of "served", especially in new markets. Or Steve G. saying, "I was on Kerry's boat and I witnessed...."

How is the funding coming along?

Any other ideas?!?

I'd like to see an analysis of each individual aligned with Kerry. For example by name:
Which OICs did they serve while in Vietnam, and when?
How many days did each serve under Kerry's command and what were the dates (from-to)?
How many missions did they serve under Kerry's command and what were the dates (from-to)?
Were they decorated, which medal, what for, when and who wrote the commendation?
Where have they been, worked and lived since their service and what do they do now?
What is their financial, business, personal, marriage, etc., status now and what is the history in these areas?
etc., etc., etc.

Ummmm... we ARE talking about a one-minute ad, guys. Shocked

They're working on the second ad - I'm sure they've got just as powerful a concept for the next one as they did for this one.

The "didn't serve on his boat" thing is rightfully dying a slow and agonized death. Wink

Use that great picture of the group of swift boats together as background.
Was in Cambodia - Christmas - no - Near Cambodia - no - It was January - no - It was clandestine runs

LIE in big red letters that shrink and get big and back again with a thundering sound

Then tell how Cambodia was blocked, CR not active until Easter, Christmas ceasefire was honored and red tracer rounds would have been friendly fire, the enemy used green

Rec 1st purple heart from enemy fire

Same lie thing

There was no enemy fire, he did it to himself

Is favorite son of whoever that communist guys name is and show his picture in their museum

etc. like that for as long as you can go:) Ok, I will stop, was just having fun:)

I don't the picture thing would go over very well.

But I think a quick clip of him testifying before Congress that he was in Cambodia on Xmas and then a quick shot of the Kerry camp correcting the date. Then multiple pictures of the swiftboats underway and how close they are together followed by the Kerry camp stating that these men were not on the same "SHIP". Then I would have the fact that he requested the Purple Heart and was turned down followed by someone who knew the injury was not worthy of the medal and it was treated with a bandaid. Then end it with statement that Kerry will not release the documents that could put all of this to bed.

Final statement: " Mr. Kerry, before you ask someone for their vote for you to lead this war on terror don't they deserve the truth? Why are you hiding these documents from your fellow Americans?"

Not exactly like that but you get the idea. The dishonest behavior in the first ad is very general. The next needs to be specific. I say that because I work at a hospital with many employees. I ask what they know. Well it's disappointing. Give a specific ad. Show Kerry saying contradictary statements. Show the public that his ambitions are for himself not his country.

An over the shoulder picture showing someone filling out Form 180.

As the form is filled out we see that it is filled out with the name of George W. Bush.

A voice says "Mr. Kerry, George Bush Released his records, when can we expect the same from you?"

Big Red Letters Flash accross the screen saying Form 180

The voice says "A signed Form 180, Mr. Kerry, that is all we ask"

As much as the Form 180 is a key component, I don't think it should be in an ad for this reason. If Kerry signs it that provides a targeted 'out' for the Kerryities to use the press to bury the contents and the momentum that has been built up by the SWIFTs.

The Form 180 SHOULD be used as an issue (see below). But used as a parallel effort to the SWIFTs main thrust which I believe is restoration of their honor. What the SWIFTs deserve is a public apology from the one man who has defamed them - John Kerry. The SWIFTs should ask for no less than this 'man' stand on the floor of the US Senate and retract every utterance that was an untruth, televised.

So the ad should use the Senate floor as the prop: Flash to the committee room where it happened. "Senator on this very spot in 1971 you defamed the names of servicemen you never knew." Flash to the spot on the senate floor. "Senator on this very spot in 1986 in a speech before the Senate you invoked your false involvement in Cambodia for defeat of friends of our country." Flash to an empty podium on the Senate floor. "Senator when will you stand on this spot, repudiate your lies, to restore our honor?" Then close with the end of your current ad showing the respective vets -- "I served with John Kerry.", "I served with John Kerry.", "I served with John Kerry.".

But this kind of ad should be a closer. The SWIFTs need to do 1 or 2 more 'fact finders' type ads before this. Each of those ads should close with a web page address so people can gather more facts.

As to the Form 180. I would use this in a different venue. Take a copy of a form 180. Grey it out and use it as a background image. On the top half state the reason for the form and why Kerry should sign it. The middle third should ask for the signators name, address and drivers licence number (or other reasonable id). The last third should be a tear off of the same data that also says " I agree, Mr. Kerry fill out the form 180. Signed __________________"

Now here's the impact. The SWIFTs I detect have gained a significant following. Sufficient for 1,2 volunteers to be available to print out and hand out the flyer to every stop that Kerry goes. SWIFT teams across the country. They also collect the tear offs. This starts a petition drive and gets the people involved. Wherever Kerry goes, the form 180 dogs him. It plants the seed, why won't he sign?

But whatever, no Bush, no Bush. This has to be a clear SWIFTs issue no more. That Bush even comes close to benefiting is immaterial.

I would like to see an ad that has current clips/or pics of Kerry making comments about being proud of his service in Vietnam, and hugging his current “band of brothers” and then “reporting for duty” (things said now while campaigning and/or at the convention -- many moments to choose from!);

then fade to the now-famous photo of him in uniform, receiving his medals… then fade to another picture: Kerry in 1971, at the rally -- tossing someone’s medals..

Then a shot of him testifying before Congress -- and while he is meticulously accusing US soldiers of cutting off ears and raping and pillaging in the manner of Genghis Khan -- overlay with that now famous photo of him and all his men (the one on your front page) so they can stand before him while they are being accused, so to speak.

Then rerun one of the beginning current clips where he says he is “proud of having served.”

End with text: “This man is not fit to be Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America.”

[I don’t think anyone has to actually say he can’t be trusted or that he betrayed his fellow soldiers -- his own actions/remarks can tell that tale.]

I would like to see some type of reference to the letter from the DNC and Kerry Campaign lawyers threatening to sue the TV stations if they aired the first ad.

That letter, more than anything else the Kerry people have done, convinced me that the SBV must be telling the truth. Why threaten, before the fact, to sue for libel/slander?

IMHO the Form 180 club is best hung on the SwiftVets belt, always at the ready and silently intimidating the Kerry campaign, occasionally picked up and twirled around whenever Kerry's hacks get unruly just to remind them that it's still there. They will never sign that form and I'm not sure trying to beat them over the head with it will product positive results. Since it's too late in the game for Kerry to fall back on the patented Lanny Davis preemptive leak technique, they have no choice but to continue attacking the messengers rather than the message while they desperately try to spin plausible variations of Kerry's debunked stories to the MSM.

I think any new commercial should stay serious, perhaps focusing on driving the Cambodia/Magic Hat story home and using the same testimonial format as the first commercial. As Captain's Quarters pointed out yesterday, a new study shows that the first one was powerful stuff indeed.

I'd like to see explosions, a car chase, some gratuitous nudity, and an ironic twist at the end.

Definitely pressure him to sign a Form 180.

Point out how few used the 'out' Kerry used to get out of the final 7+ months of his tour.

I'd point out he was politically motivated during his tour, possibly even accuse him of 'using' the army, the war, and his fellow soldiers to thrust himself into the spotlight and advance his political agenda. Point out his re-enactment videos as part of this agenda.

Pressure him to reveal how many times he met with the Viet Cong, and if he realized these actions of negotiating as a private citizen were illegal. Point out how the enemy embraced Kerry's bashing of our military and government and used it to their advantage. Kerry is more of a North Vietnamese war hero than an American war hero IMO.

I'd probably smear him by comparing the 4 months he served in Vietnam versus how long he spent protesting Vietnam.

Just some thoughts.

Above all the negative, I would stress the Swift Boat Vets for Truth have lived with Kerry's slanders for decades, and how they feel they cannot remain silent as Kerry attempts to become Commander in Chief of the nation he helped divide.
