Pretty sad indictment against the rest of the Senators when Genghis John Fraud Kerry is the only one so far to speak out about an absolute brutal travesty that has been ongoing in Iran for decades.

Iran’s radical Islamic regime has sentenced American Pastor Saeed Abedini to eight years’ imprisonment in one of Iran’s most brutal and deadly prisons – simply because of his Christian faith.

This action violates Iran’s own constitution and violates multiple international human rights treaties that Iran has voluntarily and willingly signed.Every day that American Pastor Saeed sits in Iran's Evin Prison represents a potential death sentence. Fox News described Evin Prison like this: "Beatings, torture, mock executions and brutal interrogations are the norm at Evin prison, where for four decades the anguished cries of prisoners have been swallowed up by the drab walls of the low-slung lockup in northwestern Tehran."

Yesterday Senator John Kerry, just before his confirmation as Secretary of State, issued a clear and personal call for the release of Pastor Saeed, a U.S. citizen.

Now is the time to call for an international response. Our petition demands that the international community stand up for human rights and demands that Iran comply with treaties it voluntarily and willingly signed.

To the United Nations, European Union and Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights:

Violating its treaty obligations and its own constitution, the Islamic Republic of Iran has sentenced an American pastor, Saeed Abedini, to prison for eight years for merely exercising his fundamental human right to religious freedom. Take all available diplomatic action to press Iran to respect human rights and release Pastor Saeed.
