Yeah, right. I was pretty tuned in during those days and don't recall much of anything from Lautenberg save for anything more than mandatory, partisan umbrage. Rather unsurprising, however, that His Fraudulency would attempt to capitalize upon a WWII veteran's valor...

Secretary of State John Kerry thanked the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) for his support during the "swift boat" chapter of his 2004 presidential campaign in a memorial statement issued Monday.
"I think he fought harder for veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan because he had been there standing in their shoes," Kerry said in remarks released by the State Department. "He fought just as hard for me as well, and I will always be grateful and touched by the ferocity with which Frank defended me many years ago when partisans questioned my own service in the Navy."
