I posted this before, however, I was in some "Twilight Zone" area, since the posts are completely different than the ones showing currently.
Ah, the joys of PHP and SQL.
In any case, Mr. O'Neill had an outstanding interview with John Bachelor (syndicated ABC Radio talk show host with a NATIONAL audience)
It was a very reasonable, cordial and totally professional interview. Both gentlemen were civil and respectful. John Bachelor (for those that don't know) is a confessed Democrat (of the Truman/Scoop Jackson sort) and a published author and writer in his own right. Not a hack.
NNN, heads up, your On-Air interview list did NOT mention this LONG 1/2 hour long interview.
Hopefully, a transcript will be available, perhaps from WABC radio.
Major points covered in the interview were Mr O'Neill's bonafides (USNA, war service, etc), the Christmas in Cambodia issue, the sampan incident, and discrepancies from reality. Got in a couple of good plugs for the book (Bachelor is very good about pushing books and authors worthy of note)
Kudos all the way around. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

Thank you - if you do see a transcript pop up, would you paste it into Kate's transcript thread under Resources and Research?
I know that the web guys are scrambling to keep up with new additions to the speaking schedule, and it's possible that this one just happened on a two-minute notice, or something.
"John O'Neill's in the area? Can he come on our show? Is ADM Hoffman available for a phone interview in half an hour?" That kind of thing.
Thanks again for the report! We appreciate it! _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

off topic, but too good not to share, didnt want to start a new thread
John ONeill on Hugh Hewitt Fri Aug 13> Speaking about his interview on Hardball with Chris Mathews
After the show, John told Matthews that there was no need to read the book, it might just confuse him.
John says he will wait to hear some more details about taking SEALs into Cambodia as the retold tale because they're very careful everything in the book is thoroughly fact checked. Once we hear what the new story is then he'll check it; regardless any new tales will not relieve him from the fact he lied about it to begin with.
Points made by Hugh that the believability of Kerry's own vets is now ruined because they knew & previously admitted the Christmas in Cambodia story was a lie and never said anything to correct the record. On the air today Hugh also notes that Doug Brinkley has also lost all credibility because he actually published a book - either knowing or not knowing the story was a fraud - and didn't address it in his glowing portrayal. _________________ .

I'd like to know Matthews response. Probably just a gotcha laugh? _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |
