General Binford Peay III, CENTCOM commander from 1994-1997, seems to have maintained a studious silence about the conduct of the war, perhaps understandable since he's now the chairman of the board of a defense contractor that, among other things, provides ammunition for the Army's Stryker brigades.
Still, that's a pretty remarkable record, isn't it? Three of the past four CENTCOM commanders, the guys who probably understand the military requirements of a war in the Middle East better than any other humans on the planet, think the people who planned this war are completely incompetent. Quite an accomplishment. |

I've got a friend getting shot at over there myself. so don't try the typical crap of hate america or the troops. It's pretty weak when people try and imply that others don't love America in the right way.
The reason I post this is to show that the election is not happening in a vacume. You re-hire Bush and you get the whole package. If he did anything to fire people after their major screw ups, I would be far less harsh on his conduct of the war. But in case after case, the neo cons have underestimated or just plain blown the operations. I was against this war, but once it started I knew we had to win. Time after time, they have made the wrong decisions. If he hasn't fired some of them by now, I have no confidence that anything will change if he gets a second term. |

Were he to gain a second term he moves to the realm of relatively being one with nothing to lose since he does not need give another thought to being elected again.
If him and his friends is feathering their beds a bit now another term may well come to wholesale looting. |
