I thought all Navy ships had to keep daily deck and engineering logs detailing each days events when they were on patrol. Has anyone examined Kerry's deck and engineering logs (which are public record and on file at the Washington Navy Yard) to see if he did go into Cambodia or if he was wounded in action, etc. |

A PCF (Swift) is a 50 foot boat, not a bloody ship. No deck logs. A simple hours run-maintenance performed engineer's log was kept. At least this was true on ASPBs and PBRs where I served. Check with RbShirley for specific background on Swift logs. You may find something at www.pcf45.com
After action reports only except for the Task Element Commander (CTE in the Spot Reports) which was often just the senior OinC on a 4-5 Boat mission. If nothing material happened nothing was recorded or reported by individual OinCs.
Many OinCs and POinCs, like myself, kept personal war logs in spiral bound student style notebooks bought at Base Exchanges (BX in the Navy. PX in the Army) _________________ On Sale! Any possibility that any of the following might be available concerning PCF-94 when Kerry commanded her?...
