However, it may not make it easy to lead them "in harm's way" if that becomes necessary either for the good of the mission or another crew or even their own safety. This "warm fuzzy closeness" may also encourage them to tell him to "stick it" when he gives them an order if they don't happen to agree or are scared. A good officer is not necessarily "liked' by his men. It is far more important that they "respect" him (or her) and have confidence in his (or her) desisions and for this reason are willing to follow orders. |
