I think O'Reilly got out front early condemning Swiftvets without knowing the entire story. He probably didn't expect the story to have the legs it's had or that the book would become a bestseller. He's backed himself into a corner with his original position and is now trying to find a "fair and balanced" way out. |

That's old O'Reilly, despite the date...even O'Reilly might have learned something over the weekend. He'll have to come around eventually for his own credibility. BTW, I love his condescending and dismissive "This Swift Boat business" like it's some kind of an annoyance.
Hopefully someone, somewhere has fisked his column. Looks like easy pickins.
Sorry to rock your world Bill, but the truth train has left the station and you better start running to catch it.

O'Reilly says;
Quote: | His heroism impressed most of his Swift Boat mates. |
Has he missed the fact that it is "most of his Swift Boat mates" that are running the ad and condemning him?
O'Reilly is losing viewers, in my opinion. Time will tell. _________________ Clark County Conservative |

Here's my daily email to OReilly:
Bill, you keep reminding us that Wesley Clark took himself out of the race by not condemning Michael Moore's characterizations of President Bush. Let's get something straight and be honest. Wesley Clark was never a real contender.
You are completely missing the point. You point to all these people who have signed off Kerry's war record. The Swiftvets are claiming that Kerry lobbied for those medals under false information. The only thing that people will agree with is that Rassmann was pulled out of the water by Kerry. Rassmann may feel his life was saved, others may think he was helped back in the boat.
Bill, this is not going away. You formed opinions too early and have a little egg on your face. I realize you are trying to ease your way back into objectivity but you would do yourself good to not be so slow about it.

When O'Reilly interviews O'Neill, and reads the book, then, and only then, will he be qualified to comment on the veracity of the SBVT. Until then, he is, as we used to say as teenagers, "sucking wind."
He admits to seeing at least some of Moore's celluloid fantasy. Why won't he grant honorable and decorated veterans, who actually love America, the same courtesy? |

I e-mailed Bill last week informing him that I would no longer listen to him on the radio or watch his show. I was disappointed in him calling us that support these swiftvets "right wing nuts". I told him until he apologized to the swiftvets he lost my viewership...have not watched nor listen to him since. _________________ Born to raise a little hell! |

couldn't get thru to OReilly's website, hopefully he's inundated, sent msg to FOX. . . .
OReilly is giving hypocrisy a bad name! Bill is forever sarcastically telling people to "get a clue" if they speak forcefully without a grasp of the basic facts. He constantly observes that we are in a time of war. OReilly lives in a cave if HE hasn't got a clue by now that "Unfit for Command". . . .get it, Bill, "command" as in war and leadership of the whole U.S. military. . . is a very scholarly piece of work. He should at least read it before opening his big yap further. This is not some high school popularity contest. This is deadly serious and totally relevant, with high stakes for all Americans. |

O'reilly and many of the talking heads on TV suffer from the same problem. They didn't serve! I think they feel guilty about it and don't want to open themselves to attack. O'reilly in particuliar seems to want to seem "fair" in this matter. No reasonable person who has even lightly reviewed some of the swiftees charges would say they do not have a point and should be reviewed. After all, Mr. Kerry's centerpiece of his convention was his "band of Brothers". If it was a fraud then that is newsworthy. I had grow tired of O'reilly for some time now and his attitude toward the swiftees was the last straw. I won't watch his show anymore and have never listened to his radio show. |

I was an Oreilly fan for years. I can't believe he has dismissed the swiftvets so readily without reading the book. I am very dissapointed in him. I can't stand to watch him now and I don't.
There is something going on with him, he usually is pretty fair about things but not with the swiftvets. Unless he gets his act together I will never watch him again.
Hell must be freezing over. Is Al Franken right? I know he is left but is he right about Oreilly being a phony? Say it aint so Bill, say it aint so. Give the swiftvets their due. _________________ "And no pair has been more wrong, more loudly, more often, than the two Senators from Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry"
