I'm sitting here wondering why we couldn't have a new "winter soldier" investigation (after the election) to once and for all put the stain of Kerry behind us. Surely we could put together something that would record testimony from real, decorated vets concerning what we did in Vietnam, what the ROE were, how they were enforced, what we did to help the RVN and what happened after we left. _________________ antimedia

There was just a big seminar held in Boston - Examining the Myths of the Vietnam War - you might want to wait until the results are published from that seminar and then you'll get some good ideas for where you want to go and what you want to accomplish.
For instance, there is the myth that Vietnam Vets constitute a higher than usual percentage of the homeless and drug-addicted. Both of these have been proven untrue.
There IS a hell of a lot of untreated PTSD out there - and one study indicates that the anti-war movement had a lot to do with making PTSD so much more prevalalent among warriors of Vietnam than from other wars.
I think you have a really good idea there - it's time to debride the wounds and set the record straight and be healed. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Amen. We should try and clear some of the myths up before they get applied to the troops now in Iraq and in future conflicts. Once the present danger is over, many of the people "supporting" our troops now will start slinging mud and making false accusations. The prison abuse over there will give them enough of a platform to paint the Iraq veterans all with the same brush as "torturers" and "animals". I've seen some of it already. |

THANK YOU WING WIPER!
I just sent this e-mail to our "Military Support Group":
go to http://www.swiftvets.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2891
read the post by "Wing Wiper".
Then re-focus your thoughts regarding whether our kids will need "counselling".
or at least what kind.
