Now that is certainly the best way to assure there be no further prisoner abuse.
I wonder if Kerry would appoint a sane person in his place?

Report: Rumsfeld bans cameraphones

Washington, DC, May. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has banned cellphones equipped with cameras throughout the military, an Australian newspaper reported Sunday.

The Business newspaper said a Pentagon source said the Defense Department believes some of the photographs taken within the Abu Ghraib prison of abuses were taken with cameraphones.

For now digital cameras, camcorders and cellphones with cameras have been prohibited in military compounds throughout Iraq but a complete ban throughout the military is in the works, the report said.

As usual, Craig, like most Kerry supporters, you operate from several faulty premises.

First, this story is false. And if, like most Kerry supporters and their leftist media shills, you could even pay attention, you would have known that.

See http://digitalcameras.engadget.com/entry/2769988332254188/ and http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,63604,00.html?tw=rss.TOP

Second, since Kerry's a psychopathic war criminal, he wouldn't know "sane" if it bit him in the ass.

Ah, so what you're saying is that you knowingly posted a false story.

No news there - we knew you guys were going to do that before you started.

We pay attention to what the other side is saying and we saw this kind of stuff coming wayyyy back, before this particular site even existed.

We read pretty detailed suggestions on how to "advocate" for leftist causes on conservative boards. Here's just one such discussion - of particular note is the disclaimer at the end of the first post.

"Moby" had no compunction about lying or dropping innuendo into his posts, did he? Wink And I see that most of you have taken his coaching seriously.

Kerry must be SO proud to have his personal traditions and practices carried on in this way by so many devoted admirers.

No. I ran onto the third link which set me to do a little search.
But not to worry. If you have ever been in the military you would have some idea how even "hints" from above might be enforced on down the chain of command. By the time a whimsical expression of a desire reaches near to the bottom it has the effective power of an edict.

********, Craig.

I was in the military.

DH did 24 years in the military.

You can't put a genie back in the bottle and there has never been an attempt to do so.

Rumsfeld has railed against the release of digital photos to the press before they'd even been seen in the Pentagon NOT because the pictures existed, but because the Pentagon is constrained by personnel and SOP policies which have not kept up with technology....

constraints which do not apply to a soldier who owns a digital camera, an email connection and a desire to evade prosecution for their criminal action.

"You can't put a genie back in the bottle and there has never been an attempt to do so."
Been mulling the above over for a bit. Went over my head I guess.

In 24 years you have no idea what I am talking about?
Maybe is because you be one of them who figured some offhand expression of a desire by some high ranking person to be well nigh unto gods writing on stone to send with Moses down on the mountain.
Sh*t! Even in some petty position of power I had found myself one time I had expressed something to the effect "I wish that ******* were not in my life." and I immediately felt need to instruct that was not a wish I wanted acted upon.
Someone is not worthy to be big cheese at the top if he is not aware that toadies on down the line is not going to take as law some expressed whimsical wish. Sh*t! Just watch some stupid Mafia movie. Even writers of such silly stuff have a handle on Godfather Dude never has to be responsible for having a hit done. Just a sigh and mention of the fellow being disrespectful and the guy washes up on the beach later.
I have long thought that one great unfortunate condition is when power is not balanced with responsibility. Today we have an administration that is doing more than I have seen to increase its power and decline any responsibility or liability.
It might be good for them short term but it kicks to loosen the foundation of the Empire.

From that URL:

1) Get Republicans fired at your workplace, or fire them yourself if you can – In the belief that all activism starts with the grass roots, do us all a favor, and fire your Republican employees this week.

That's a criminal suggestion, violating the labor laws on antidiscrimination.

2) Pretend to be a Republican, and then cut down the next Republican that you have a conversation with. - The more public/crowed the place you do this, the better. Use whatever remarks you know are sure to make the intended impression. “You’re no better than the liberal scum you claim to hate… get back into the kitchen… Just wait till we win next year and toss peons like you into the field or the workhouse… People in your income bracket don’t have the right to be Republican or vote etc.”

Public defamation.

3) Create, plant and disseminate widely “news stories” that discredit GOP policies – A good way to do this is to print out stories in the visual style of a major newspaper or magazine (don’t use the logo or other copywrited material, however) and theme them similarly to the ones that targeted John McCain’s platform last presidential election. Make sure not to slander individuals directly.

Indirect slander is the leftist's attempt at morality.

4) Contact the IRS and anonymously tip them off regarding prominent GOP contributors in your area.

Criminal malicious harassment.

5) Make sure that you’re the only ride on voting day for a group of hard right types who live out of the way, and then don’t show up.

Great ethics.

6) Impersonate Linda Tripp. – Whisper into the ear of GOP associates to encourage and get dirty laundry regarding their improprieties, and then make sure that information gets into the wrong hands.

Again, malicious harassment.

What a wonderful set of tactics for the left, well-matched to their morals and ethics.

He started of saying that maybe I'm one of those people who figured that some offhand expression of a desire by some high ranking person....

(DH was only a LCDR, and he never lived on Olympus. ) Very Happy

The commentary rapidly degenerated after that, and it didn't have all that far to fall.

You can almost watch the THC level rise, can't you? Wink

I looked at it. Mike Hersh would make Mao blush. But if he says what you like to hear, then he must be intelligent.

http://www.thehill.com/marshall/021903.aspx

Are these GOP leaders aware of their dirty tricks?

Should high-profile Republican Senators and Representatives be affiliated with a man now being investigated for sabotaging Democratic phone-banks in New Hampshire last election day?

What am I talking about? Let me explain.

As every pol knows, telemarketing is the dark underbelly of modern campaign politics. Not that most phone-bank operators don’t perform legitimate work – polling, get-out-the-vote calls, and campaign messages. But the really nasty stuff from Dems and Republicans almost always happens by telephone, where low-rent tactics easily slip under the media radar.

Only last election day, one bit of nastiness didn’t quite slip through. Early last November, now-Senator John Sununu (R-NH) was in a tight race with New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen. Over at party headquarters, New Hampshire GOP Executive Director Chuck McGee decided Sununu needed a little more help to get past the finish line. So he called Virginia-based ‘GOP Marketplace’ to help place what the state party still insists were supposed to be get-out-the-vote calls.

Whatever they want to call it, McGee and GOP Marketplace President Allen Raymond took a novel approach. Rather than trying to turn out GOP voters, they figured it would just be easier to sabotage the Democrats’ get-out-the-vote operation instead. McGee paid GOP Marketplace $15,600 to hire Idaho-based Milo Enterprises to place non-stop five-second hang-up calls to phone banks run by New Hampshire Democrats. If you think about it in Cold War terms, it was sort of like a phone bank first strike. The Dems’ phone bank were shut down for several hours and only came back online late in the morning after Verizon stepped in and shut down the attack.

Raymond and McGee probably would have gotten away with it if they hadn’t taken their shenanigans one step too far. But they took out the Manchester city firefighters’ union phone banks too.

After the story phone-jamming broke on February 7th in the Manchester Union Leader, McGee resigned. Now New Hampshire and federal authorities are investigating. (In New Hampshire it’s likely a misdemeanor, but possibly a felony with the feds.) Raymond and his partner at GOP Marketplace, Chris Cupit, did not return calls requesting comment and this weekend the firm’s website came down off the web.

Now, as Democrats remember all too well, Senator Sununu won by 51%-47%. Though State Democratic Party chair Kathy Sullivan says the phone-jamming might have turned a few races down- ticket, it’s pretty hard to believe that even the best phone-banking operation could have overcome Sununu’s margin.

But there were a lot of close races last year. Was New Hampshire the only place GOP Marketplace was up to no good? Maybe not.

A few days after the phone-jamming story broke, PoliticsNJ.com ran a story suggesting that Raymond might also be the unnamed consultant at the center of another phone-banking scandal last year in New Jersey. One count in the twenty count indictment which US Attorney Christopher J. Christie issued last year against former New Jersey Senate candidate James Treffinger related to phone bank dirty tricks. The indictment referred to an unnamed GOP consultant who had arranged the calls. Politicsnj.com’s Steve Kornacki confirmed that Raymond did work for Treffinger’s campaign. When he asked Raymond if he was the unnamed consultant in question, Raymond told him to talk to his lawyer.

And there’s more. Raymond isn’t just the founder and president of GOP Marketplace. He’s also the Executive Director of a big-time GOP pressure group: the Republican Leadership Council (RLC). The RLC is made up of a bunch of high-profile Republicans who you would normally never expect to see connected with such low-rent election dirty tricks. The RLC’s board includes Sens. Bennett, Nighthorse Campbell, Collins, Domenici, Kyl, Murkowski, Snowe and Specter and Reps. Dreier, Greenwood, Foley, Franks, Johnson, Pryce, Quinn, and Upton.

And the RLC, it turns out, hired GOP Marketplace to place calls for them too. The day before the election, the RLC paid GOP Marketplace $28,983.62 for ‘phone bank’ work.

Did that twenty-nine grand buy legitimate phone bank work? Or the sort of services Raymond was providing in New Hampshire? And who else did Raymond’s outfit work for last fall? They probably had no idea what Raymond was up to. But are these the sort of hijinks these worthies want to be associated with?

Back in New Hamphsire, party chair Kathy Sullivan wants answers. “I want to find out who paid for it, who authorized it, and who knew about it.”

You’d think some people on Capitol Hill might want some answers too.
