I've been listening to radio hosts talking about the Kerry Service/Swifties debate. One, a conservative normally, is saying that all of this deflects from the issues and only makes the Bush campaign look bad. He suggests the Swifties are off the mark in doing what they're doing and that we should basically ignore them inleui of "other issues" (Mike Gallagher show).
I disagree.
Kerry's ability to tell the truth, his overall character, and his attitude towards the military, DO MATTER. Especially for a would-be Commander and Chief.
Kerry's historic ties to VVAW, a group which aligned itself with the SDS in the 60's and early 70's, were founded by individuals with direct ties to the Revolutionary Communist Party, co-founded by Charles Kissinger (no relation to Henry) and, by no strange coincidence, Kissinger is the founder of NOT IN OUR NAME, the largest "resistence" group planning to protest the RNC. Kissinger is an unashamed Communist who, on his own website, touts the legacy of Mao Tse Tung.
Does Kerry still share these values? If so, what we're looking at is a communist who would be President.
If he no longer supports the ideals espoused by his former "comrads", then what DOES he espouse? Attempting to silence the Swifties tells us that he sees himself as privileged. He didn't mind when moveon.org slammed (and still slams) the President, the Swifties, and anyone else who doesn't support him (do not be fooled--- moveon.org supports Kerry).
So we have someone who favors censorship of anyone who speaks out against HIM? Sounds like Mao Tse Tung to me!
Yes, it matters. This man's ideologies, his values, and his character, especially when it comes to something as serious as Viet Nam and the men who served there, is telltale as to how he will govern our nation. |
