Regarding the recent allegations that the Swift Boat Veterans (a 527 organization) are coordinating their activities with the RNC, the following scandal needs to be revisited in detail. The FEC did not take any action against the Million Mom March despite overwhelming evidence of coordination between a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (the same status as a church or a university, by the way) not only coordinating its activities with Democratic politicians like Hillary Clinton and Tipper Gore, but also in promoting their candidacies.

Complaints filed against the Million Mom March for alleged use of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt money to support Al Gore and other Democratic candidates. There was plenty of "coordination" too, given the swarms of Democratic political figures (including Senate candidate Hillary Clinton) at the 2000 Mother's Day Rally, which was apparently paid for with tax-exempt money.

"Per our conversation today, I am sending you this notarized complaint about the Million Mom March, which has been adopted by the Bell Campaign. The complaint refers specifically to FEC regulations at http://www.fec.gov/pages/fecfeca.htm#anchor257909, which says corporate contributions cannot be used to "influence Federal elections.""
