An interesting place to do some research:
http://forms.irs.gov/politicalOrgsSearch/search/submitBasicSearch.action
type in the name of the organization and the forms you want to look at. I ran a comparison between Swift Boat Vets for Truth and Moveon.org. THERE IS NO COMPARISON!
John O'Neill put up 25,000 of his own, and Bob Perry tossed in his 100,000. That's basically it for large money donations.
And then you have Moveon, with page after page after page... 10, 20, 40, and upwards and over 200,000 dollar donations IN THE THIRD QUARTER ALONE!
Now I can check, unless someone else wants to.. but I will about bet that more than one big roller for moveon.org has donated heavily to the DNC...
Anyone care to take the bet? |

That data is old - there are probably 25-30,000 contributors, now.
About ten days ago, there were 8000 contributors and about a half million in funding.
The day that the Kerry campaign filed the FEC complaint, there were almost $400,000 donations made in twenty-four hours.
People don't appreciate attempts to abridge the first amendment.
FEC complaint, trying to threaten tv stations into not showing the ads, trying to get "Unfit for Command" off the shelves... these are the kinds of things that don't sit well with the American people. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

I was going by the filed IRS reports, so the data wouldn't be "new". But it shows that moveon.org is far better funded than the swifties are. That was the point of it.
One thing I want to add in here is that in demanding that Bush silence the swifties, to address them personally about the ad, would place him in collusion with the swifties (the democrat twist machine would say so later) and then in violation of FEC regs.
It would also place him in the position of being accused of censorship. Something Kerry IS trying to practice! |
