On the Thursday night edition of Hardball, Matthews made a vicious attack on Larry Thurlow and Michelle Malkin. The attacks sent shock waves in the world of pundtitry. Chris failed to show up for work on Friday but MSNBC re-played segments from that show all weekend and David Shuster promised Chris would return Monday night to resume his battle with the swiftees. It will be interesting to see what new charges he will be making and who he met with the past few days. We know he is now an active member of the Kerry campaign.

Someone may have had to read the book to him so he had a miniscule understanding of what is involved... not enough pictures or cartoons for him to read on his own.

I am boycotting "Propagandaball" after the shameless attack on Michelle Malkin.

As I have said elsewhere, an interview with a person about a book they did not write by a person who did not even read it is the height (depth?) of unprofessionalism.

Little Chrissy is no "pundit." Rumpswab for Kerry would be far more accurate, as any transcript of the program would prove in spades.

I "boycott" the shows that turn my stomach, which generically include anything that as one "anti-whatever" spokesman arguing with a "slightly-less-anti-whatever" spokesman.

Anything else I watch, although sometimes I cringe if "my side" loses badly. I just get perverse enjoyment out of at least one of the three people involved (moderator included) looking like a complete horse's ass.

As far as "my side losing" issues go ... no battle plan is perfect. You have to look at what went wrong, even if it's painful, to determine what to do next.

I have not actually thought of it that way.

That's a pretty damning statement of Chris Matthews. Man, he went after her. But I think this story is to big to get away stuff like that. Too much follow up. Now the Washington Post is talking about a "self-inflicted wound" and Matthews clearly looks like jerk for not knowing what that is.

Do NOT boycott "Hardball." Watch, listen, and then hit NBC/MSNBC hard with detailed criticisms if they are warranted. Let them know we won't sit silently by while pasty pundits like Matthews tries to re-write history. This is about TRUTH, not ratings.

Chris Matthews' rapid-fire style is well known. He can pick and choose the guests he has on his show. He'll tilt the playing field to make the Swiftees look bad.

Start writing to these shows and demand that Kerry's "Band of Brothers" be invited to speak. Why should Van O'Dell and Larry Thurlow debate the likes of John Hurley? Hurley was one of Kerry's VVAW buds. John Podesta was a Clinton hack. They need to book the "guys that were on Kerry's boat" to make it a valid debate with a Swiftee. My bet is they'll never do it. But we can ask Wink

Hardball is promoting this show today quite a lot....it may be that Matthews has read the book, Finally.

I do expect the show as must watch tonight because its going to be a full Democratic party event....I am sure this will be there biggest and best shot...especially after the Kerry Campaing self implosion over the the last 5 days.

a lot of us blasted Matthews with emails that weren't very nice impugning his integrity as we knew he had not read the book. I have no doubt that many others did exactly the same, and we do not doubt that that is why Matthews got his day off.

Jette, you are so right and I am glad you put in caps. We need to watch this show tonight. When my wife and I see this jerk attacking heroic veterans like Larry Thurlow we find a way to make another contribution. Maybe it will affect others the same way. We`re a little poorer but a hell of a lot happier.

I am really beginning to wonder if there is a "brown book" because if
there is, they would have been doing some real propaganda, (even more
than they have!)

It could have been one of their ploys, a little story leaked to make
the Swiftvets a little nervous. Well, that was a bummer of a idea, if
they think they can intimidate the vets that easily. Not these guys!
It has really been quite a change for the dems to not hit out with some
information they have on the Swiftvets, but maybe they waited too long
and now it is too late. People are responding to the Swiftvets and they
would look badly if the started a real battle with them now.

but hey, they are so busy treading water they can't think.

President Bush should never be underestimated, as he says,
he is slow to give an answer sometimes, but he does not do a knee
jerk reaction and that is smart. Look where it is getting Kerry?

I read the book "Underestimated" andi t really has a good story of
Saddam's life. He was a monster even when small and starting killing
people as a teenager. It also, shows the real pressure the president
has received from the msm and Kerry moveon friends. It is incredible
what the president has not allowed to stick with him. Tough guy, this one!
