Every half hour cable news is leading with the story that someone in the Kerry campaign found a flyer promoting a meeting of the Swift Boat Vets in a Bush campaign headquarters somewhere. They are saying that this beyond doubt establishes that the Bush campaign & the Swift Vets are working together. I think it is mostly likely that the Kerry guy made the flyer himself and brought it into the Bush campaign headquarters and then called up CNN with proof of collusion. (What was a Kerry guy doing at the Bush campaign place anyway?) Nevertheless they are using it to discredit the Swift Boat Vets. Might you need to respond to this somehow? I would think you are going to need to set up a quick response type team to deal with all the false allegations the Kerry folks are cooking up. They really haven't even started yet................... |

Its pure garbage.
Do you really doubt that the Democrats made up this story?
On the same day they file an FEC complaint?
Of course they would.
They cheat. |

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth Disavow Florida Political Flyer
August 21, 2004 - Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (SBVT), a non-partisan group representing more than 250 Swift Boat veterans who served with Senator John Kerry in Vietnam, repudiates and disassociates itself from the flyer that was allegedly distributed in Florida regarding an upcoming political event. SBVT has not authorized any such rallies, communications, events or other similar political activities with any political party, candidate or other political organization. Any suggestion that SBVT coordinated the production and distribution of this flyer promoting an event, or the event itself, with a political party is false.
SBVT is an independent organization dedicated to correcting the false statements made by Senator Kerry about his service record in Vietnam and the service records of the men who served with him. SBVT acts independently from and is not affiliated with any political party – Republican, Democratic, or independent – or any candidate for public office. Only the SBVT Executive Committee, comprised of men who served on Swift Boats in Vietnam, has the authority to authorize communications on behalf of the organization or official events. |

May I make a suggestion? The reponse to the flyer needs to be much more specific. In other words, somebody needs to prove that this Kerry "volunteer" that claims he got this flyer in a Bush campaign office, is a liar. For instance, have you talked to the people in that office? Do they remember this guy....because he claims to have asked someone if the Swift Boat vets were coming to Gainesville. And he was told Yes, they are. Is that a falsehood? Were the Swift Boat vets ever going to Gainesville?
The liberal mainstream press is simply taking this guys word for it. They are NOT looking into this. I don't know if it's the Swift Boat vets responsibility or not. But someone needs to prove this for what it most likely is: something that this Kerry volunteer did all on his own. |

From the DMC website:
Quote: | "The Democratic Party is partnering with MoveOn.org, People for the American Way, Campaign for America's Future, and dozens of other groups representing millions of Americans to organize a massive public mobilization. On Wednesday, May 14, join us by calling and emailing your representatives in Congress to let them know that the majority of Americans oppose more irresponsible tax cuts that go overwhelmingly to the wealthiest sliver of Americans." |

Is this a battle worth having? Does it get us off message? _________________ Talking point #1: Sign 180

There was no official contingent of Swifts going to Gainesville.
Perhaps some ex-Swifts were going to speak at the event, but not representing SBVFT.
Did you hear that the person who "accidentally" stumbled across the fliers is an associate of Scott Camil's?
The guy who proposed the plan to assassinate pro-war Congressmen at the VVAW Convention? _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~
