can't link to image so I'll type out the section I am refering to ...
Quote: | GR . PCF 23 JOINED AT CAI NUOC. PCFS WITH MSF EMBARKED DEPARTED
CAI NUOC AT 1445K PROCEEDING DOWN BAY HAP. AT VQ 995770 MINE
DETONATED UNDER PCF 3 LIFTING BOAT ABOUT 2-3 FT OUT OF WATER. VERY
HEAVY BLK SMOT OBSERVED AT SAME TIME BOATS RCVD HEAVY A/W AND S/A
FROM BOTH BANKS. FIRECONTINUED FOZNABOUT 5000 METERS. TWO OTHER
MINE EXPLOSIONS OVC RVED. ALL BOATS AND MSF RETURNED FIRE A

ATTEMPTED ASSIST PCF 3. PCF 94 PICKED UP MSF ADVISOR WHO WENT
OVERBOARD. 94 TOWED PCF 3 AS BUCKET BRIGADE CONTROLLED FLOODING.
PCF 43 TOOK ALL WIA TO USCGC SPENCER DOR TREATMENT. PCF 94 AND 51
ASSISTED PCF 3. LCVP ITH D/C PARTY WAS IMMEDIATELY DISPATCHED FROM
WASHTENAW COUNTY. BOAT DAMAGE SEPARATE MSG. |
Questions to be asked:
1) Why no mention of the 2 or 3 PCF3 personnel in water and picked up ?
2) 5000 meters of "HEAVY A/W AND S/A FROM BOTH BANKS" but no bullets holes reported in 4 boats (the 3 boat having mine damage).
3) No mention of the time lines, i.e. how long did it take to get PCF 3 under tow ? If the Kerry guys say there was fire they should say when it stopped ... 10 min into it ? 20 min into it ?
4) Does not state MSF Advisor (Rassman) was blown overboard, just says "WHO WENT OVERBOARD". The 2 "other" mine explosions were observed. Not described as close to PCF 94. Is Rassman sure he was blown overboard ?
5) Why no damage report filed for PCF 3 ? There is one for PCF 94 ...
The Kerry helmsman already debunked the 5,000 meter item (saying they bolted when the rest stayed, but even he didn't say they ran away for 5+ minutes)
The talking heads keep saying "Official Navy documents" and then when plain common sense proves the documents to be wrong they can't admit it ...
and METERS ... looked thru all the FEB after action reports found YARDS and YDS ... no METERS ... me thinks the author of the 13 Mar report was educated in Europe. _________________ JJC

According to the documents you provided a link to, the 94 boat received battle damage during the 13 March 1969 action. Specifically:
Quote: |
TWO STBD AND ONE PORT MAIN CABIN WINDOWS BLOWN OUT. VRC-46 RADIO AND ALL REMOTE UNITS PILOT HOUSE INOP. AC WIRING SHORTED OUT. ONAN GENERATOR INOP. STEERAGE CONTROL AFTER HELM INOP. STBD BILGE PUMP BROKEN. SCREWS CURLED AND CHIPPED. RADAR GEAR BOX FROZEN. MAIN ENGINES EXPERIENCED RPM DROP.
|
No mention of damage to the hull, decks or bulkheads from any bullet impacts. Did all of that alleged fire hit only those items mentioned in the report and nothing else? With this much damage, who decided that the 94 boat should take the 3 boat in tow?
Also, are there battle damage reports for the other 3 boats (excluding the 3 boat)? Can the Navy or Natinal Archives provide those documents? _________________ Frenchy's News and Commentary Blog
