Does anyone know anything about this story yet. Somebody named Jim Russell claiming to have been there with Kerry. There are real possibilities of phony stories now to try to cloud the truth. I don't know that this is, but just my suspicion here considering the politics of Telluride. Hope its okay to leave link to newspaper. Interesting to also read next letter after Russells. http://www.telluridegateway.com/articles/2004/08/20/news/opinion/opinion01.txt

This has already been discussed. The guy is most likely a phoney. The canals and rivers of Vietnam do not have beaches (his word.) They have banks.

Good point. Also I noticed after he says the swift boats showered the beach with lead after the mine explosion, then they still receive small arms fire during rescue. This is highly doubtful based on my experiences in Vietnam. They usually would fire a few shots, then high tail it before being wiped out by the barrage of fire.
