|

"I was there longer than that [4 months], number one," he said. "Number two, I served two tours. Number three, they thought enough of my service to make me aide to an admiral," Kerry said.
I can't wait to see the evidence that he had. _________________

I've heard the "Two tours thing" too, but never understood it.
Hell, that ought to be a piece of cake to prove or disprove.... _________________ 101st Airborne Div.

Someone else speculated that he counted COSDIV11 as one tour and COSDIV14 as the other. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Most of us Vietnam veterans know that in comon usage a tour was a period of twelve months (365 days) and two tours would have been two years. However, on the Kerry web site it has a Vietnam Service Medal awared to Ensign John F. Kerry on 8 April 1968. It would seems the Navy gave out a Vietnam Service Medal while Kerry was on the ship off the coast. Very distored view to call this two tours.
Keep up the good work, every time I look around I see very overstated (phony) claims of Vietnam service. |

Gridley doesn't count as a tour. Swift Boats doesn't count either because he did not serve 12 months. All he can say about his swift boat duty is he served time in Viet Nam, but cannot claim a "tour." Even Gore wasn't that stupied to claim he served a tour.
So, still waiting for the evidence how he served two tours. Maybe it has to do with the recent addition of them two bronze stars, which makes a total of four he is now authorized to wear on his service medal.....
What FOUR campaigns did Kerry serve in?????????????

A "tour" was considered 12 months unless you were SO wounded that you couldn't complete it. Kerry knows most Americans do not have a clue about what a "tour" means. |

Actually, I was on the USS Towers DDG-9 in The Gulf in 65. It was never, back then called a tour. It was a cruise. |

I'm not the one claiming he had two "tours" - I'm just trying to figure out how candidate Kerry may be rationalizing things. After all - he DID get a VSM with 4 clusters |

I just remembered Kerry himself had removed his Gridley service as counting as a "tour." He told the Senate back in 1971 that he was a Public Affairs Officer on the Gridley BEFORE HE WENT TO VIETNAM. So obiviously he didn't consider his Gridley cruise as a vietnam tour.
Back to wondering that the hell he could be talking about..... _________________

He stated that My service was so good I was put under an admiral.
I think what he ment to say is that "My head was so far up Ted Kennedys ASS I was passed over to an admiral as a special favor."
Two tours Symantics argument is all that is , what a barf bag. |

Based on the criterea for the Vietnam Service Medal, Sen. Kerry is supposedly eligible for:
6. Tet Counteroffensive (30 January-l April 1968)
7. Vietnamese Counteroffensive (2 April-30 June 1968) Phase IV
9. Vietnamese Counteroffensive (2 November 1968- 22 February 1969) Phase VI
10. Tet 69/Counteroffensive (23 February-8 June 1969)
i just don't have any idea which 2 he added via the dd-215 _________________ U.S.M.C. - 1969-1971
