Sometimes I get the feeling that the Dems. actually fear
a terrorist reprisal more if we reelect Bush.
Do you feel that some of this is Spain syndrom? |

That may be true for some people, but this is NOT Spain.
In my opinion, the same terrorist action here would have the exact opposite reaction.
Just after 9/11 (for too short a time) people stopped being partisan and became AMERICANS.
Current POTUS would go cowboy on attackers and be supported by the majority.
John Kerry would try to establish dialogue, beg France, Germany, and U.N. for assistance, and apply for a medal for doing so.

How could a POTUS/CIC Kerry (shuddder) deal with terrorists ---- he can't handle 250 "old" sailors. |

I was thinking this was a new suggestion to FEAR FACTOR but with a twist.
Instead of eating worms they have to eat thier lies and tell the truth
Instead of being pierced with needles they should be forced to reveal records under question _________________ Proud Daughter of a Bronze Star Awarded Father-Iraqi Freedom

SOTG,
That is correct about our reaction. However, I hope that this time, once (not if) we are attacked, Pres. Bush takes this opening and finally asks Congress to declare war on fundamentalist Islamic terrorists. He had that window immediately after 9/11, but didn't take it, which I believe was a strategic error. Once war is formally declared, the whole equation changes. It forces us to define the enemy (not evil doers, etc... that's a crock of ****) and to focus on winning the final victory. It forces the President to mobilize the public, not have them live life pre-Sept 11. Those of you who are my older brothers know this to be true, given the example of Vietnam - had it been a formally declared war, we would have been compelled to fight to victory, and such actions of Kerry, traveling to Paris to meet with VC/DRVN types could have been prosecuted as treason, aid and comfort to the enemy.
It could also change the terms of the political debate, now being in a formally declared war. What would Kerry do then? How would he react? Would he be on record as formally opposing this? It could box him in, should he be elected POTUS (GOD forbid!!!). Who knows???
jataylor11's question is right on....

The democrats are trying to forget there was a 9/11 and that we are in a war on terror. trying to keep us safe is not fear . |
