Yep, hit 'em where it counts and let them know why.

Point them to a few threads here on this bulletin board that talk about the tricks used to keep this book from being readily available.

We know that the first few weeks after its release, it was difficult to get the book in stock. The publisher pushed the printing and got it released six weeks before its projected release date. That explains a lot of the stuff that happened at first.

We are also fairly sure that snubbing this book wasn't condoned or begun at the corporate level - they have to look at their sales, sales, sales and don't care what they sell. (Judging by the fact that the Moore-on's tomes of lies and idiocy are well in evidence on their shelves.)

But we do have a fair number of anecdotes about anti-UFC antics at the store level, and these were possibly condoned at the store manager level. How can a store manager okay an order for 4 or 5 copies of UFC when it's been on the NYT bestseller list for almost a month? When there are several calls a day asking for this book? When it ranks between #1 and #4 in its first few weeks on amazon? How can a store manager fail to note that a book that outsells "My Lies" by Clinton (which has a huge "first-thing-you-see" display at the front door) is hidden in small quantities in the fiction section?

The stupid little tricks pulled by store employees to keep this book from selling after it had been on the NYT best seller list for several weeks, though - those were out of line.

B & N was hub's "home away from home," and I spent my fair share, there as well. No more. Our newest "Reader's Advantage" card hadn't even had time to pay for itself when we started boycotting them.

Amazon is also on our boycott list for the "special allowances" it has made in it's review policy. I still haven't found a book, no matter how inflammatory and fictitious, that has had a similar disclaimer applied to it.

The worst hurt I can inflict upon amazon will occur when I switch all the links on my commercial clients' pages from amazon associates' links to booksamillion.com associates' links.

Then we tell them why - we were selling thousands of dollars a month worth of amazon books - no more. My clients will lose a pretty good chunk of income but they support this boycott.

Don't forget to tell them WHY you aren't buying from their stores, any more. Just stopping your shopping habits doesn't help. They need to know why.

One thing I forgot in my previous post. I did not waste my time on the B/N Booksellers site as sending an email there would just be dusted off to some customer service clerk and never be seen in the Ivory Towers

So I did a search and found B/N Inc. This is there corporate site, not the bookseller site. I sent my email off to as many people as I could at the corporate web site, figuring it might get to the right tower, (hopefully).

My experience was at Walden Book Store. Stopped by one day in August on the off chance of finding a copy of "Unfit for Command." Walked in the door and was greeted by the prominent display of several copies of Clinton's book, along with all the other current books from the left - but no UFC anywhere. When asked they said they had only ordered a few copies and were out. I then decided if I couldn't get UFC that day, I'd get a copy of "God and George W. Bush" - but found none. When asked they first said they had no book by that title. Then, after looking it up, they went to the back of the store, only to return saying they had none. I then meandered back to the area myself, and there, near the back corner, down low on the wall, I found a copy, spine out of course - not face out. When I went to pay for it they said they could take my name and number and notify me when they got UFC in. I've never heard from them to this day. A couple weeks later though, while in Walmart, on a rushed stop, I caught a glimpse of several copies of Clinton's book as I passed by the book section, so I paused to scan the shelves and there (interestingly - also down low) I saw it! One lone copy of UFC, which I promptly I snatched up!

It seems as if all the chain bookstores and on-line web sites, e.g., Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, and Walden, have been found to be biased against UFC, despite their supposedly capitalistic goal of making a profit. I suppose their liberal, leftist, and socialist leanings overcome their desire to earn a buck when it comes to presidential elections?

In any event, I respectfully and humbly recommend limiting purchases of books like UFC to conservative organizations like American Compass, Town Hall, NewsMax, WorldNetDaily, and National Review. In this way, we support companies that more closely mirror our outlook on life, and help to limit the influence of "communists in capitalistic clothing". This also goes for companies like Progressive Insurance, which is led by Peter Lewis, who pumped millions of dollars into wacko 527s like MoveOn and ACT.
