I've seen a couple stories on this today. One reporter gives a link to wintersoldier.com as his source.
Everyone is familiar with the atrocities part of the testimony; but there is more to the testimony. Great catch by the reporters. That site has a lot of background on Kerry, on his after war activites, that could answer a lot of questions posed by posters here.
Good reminder to visit that site, and plan to stay a while….and read.
here's the part of the 1971 testimony they are referring to:

This needs to be e-mailed to all the media outlets. |

I've seen that all over the place.
It gets typical coverage ... Kerry seems to have written all the reports that do good things for him, and had nothing to do with anything that would be controversial.
Makes perfect sense to me ... |
Kerry responded, "I had direct experience with that. Senator, I had direct experience with that and I can recall often sending in the spot reports which we made after each mission; and including the GDA, gunfire damage assessments, in which we would say, maybe 15 sampans sunk or whatever it was. And I often read about my own missions in the Stars and Stripes and the very mission we had been on had been doubled in figures and tripled in figures.
Are there archives of Stars and Stripes? Perhaps we can determine which missions he's referring to. |

Bingo! The weapon Kerry was most proficient in was his Underwood typewriter! _________________ redclay |
