I voted no in order to protect SBVT.
But even if all SBVT members voted No, it wouldn't make much difference. Current results 61% Yes, 39% No with 64,189 total votes.

Regardless of the damage to MoveOn or SwiftVets, we ALL need to vote No on this issue. McCain/Fiengold is a direct assault on the average citizen's right to free speach. The 'loophole' that allows the creation of 527s is actually not a loophole, it's necessary for the law to withstand constitutional scrutiny - otherwise the impact on the right to free speach would be to great for approval.
If we now allow 527s to be silenced, then the only permissable free political speach will be from politicians and the media, two entities that CLEARLY cannot be trusted as advocates for the common man/woman. McCain/Feingold is a cynical attempt to remove the 'people' from the 'government of, by and for the people'. It must be reversed, not strengthened.
If we REALLY want to remove the corrupting influence of money in politics, we should legislate that media companies may NOT charge for political advertising, that they have to provide free of charge equal time to all parties. No way they'll ever do that voluntarily, but the govt. owns the airwaves, contrary to media's tyranny with them, and we as Americans should tell our government what to do with them.

Who are they kiddin'? CNN (Al Jazeera West) IS a 527 organization.
Just because they cal their pro-DemoKrat propoganda news, doesn't mean they aren't. |
