As a physician, I've been taught not just to treat symptoms (i.e., to fight a battle against disease), but to seek and treat the cause of the symptoms (to win the war against disease).

I've been thinking about this battle, SwiftVets vs. Kerry, and realize that it helps to frame the battle in its broader context. SwiftVets vs. Kerry is just a battle.

The war is a bit more complex.

The SwiftVets are fighting not just Kerry and the leftist MSM fogosphere (the symptom), but also they are fighting the raging metastatic ideological cancer cells inoculated into the Body American by the Soviet Communists (the Disease).

Specifically, the entire anti-war, U.S.-soldiers-as-criminal-Fedayeen-Uncle-Sams calumny originated with the Soviet regime via the KGB as a way to undermine our war effort.

The fact is that most Americans have no idea how radical Kerry's views on Vietnam were. His April 1971 Senate testimony (reprinted in full on pages 9-12) could have been written by Chomsky or Franklin. But the larger reality is even more troubling.

In his indispensable America in Vietnam, Guenter Lewy notes the establishment of a veritable war-crimes industry, supported by the Soviet Union, as early as 1965. As Ion Mihai Pacepa, a former Romanian intelligence chief, has recounted, the Soviets set up permanent international organizations--including the International War Crimes Tribunal and the Stockholm Conference on Vietnam--"to aid or to conduct operations to help Americans dodge the draft or defect, to demoralize its army with anti-American propaganda, to conduct protests, demonstrations, and boycotts, and to sanction anyone connected with the war."

Pacepa claims to have been responsible for fabricating stories about U.S. atrocities in Vietnam and "flacking" them to Western news organizations. Lewy writes that "the Communists made skillful use of their worldwide propaganda apparatus . . . and they found many Western intellectuals only too willing to accept every conceivable allegation of [American] wrongdoing at face value." The Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), a small, radical group that never exceeded a membership of 7,000 (including John Kerry) from a pool of nearly 3 million Vietnam (and 9 million Vietnam-era) veterans, essentially "Americanized" Soviet propaganda. When he testified before the Senate in 1971, Kerry was merely repeating charges that had been making the rounds since 1965.

Kerry also claimed that containing communism was no reason to fight in Vietnam.

Our war effort against the Communists was just, almost biblical. We were defending the people of SE Asia against the Soviet-instigated, Soviet-backed tyrants and psychopaths who were enthroned in North Vietnam to rule over and subjugate their citizens.

In medicine, we like proof of our theories. The deaths of millions of Vietnamese by Communist Blood Bath, and the boat people phenomenon that occured after we left, pretty damn well suggests the true nature of our struggle. And its validity.

John Kerry and his Band of Neanderthal Boobs in the "Winter Soldier" matter were taken in by the KGB propaganda. It's telling that Kerry was gullible and lacked good judgment then, as now. He has not changed.

On the other hand, the Soviet Union and its ideology is dead and thoroughly discredited. It's time that the ideological cancer they deposited with America died also.

That is The War we fight.

The SwiftVet mission is to keep those Arrows flying straight and true.

I think this incredible SwiftVets phenomenon will be an historic chapter in American history, but we must stay the course!

I believe we (SwiftVets and supporters) have an historic opportunity to kill, or at least put into remission, the cancerous ideology that is taking root in our country.

This highly-invasive and fast-spreading cancer has vitually taken control of the liberal left and the MSM.

And it is nearing a stranglehold on the Democratic Party, which today seems to retain almost no remnant of its past intellectual honesty. Thus, principled Democrats like Zell Miller can no longer identify with the party's ideology or its methods of advancing it.

The terrorists are like vultures who see and smell our country's festering wounds. They are now circling in for the kill of the world's greatest working example of freedom.

I believe our grassroots group of patriots can make a difference in the course of American history. Mobilized by the efforts of these courageous Swiftboat Veterans and armed with truth and the power of the internet, we are being called to service at a critical time for our ailing democracy.

I think by continuing to expose the truth in a deliberate and unwaivering fashion, we can establish the necessary credibility to motivate the "silent majority" of Americans to help us heal our country's serious ills.

Neither political party could possibly accomplish this, with the polarized electorate of today.

Our mission will not be complete, just by keeping John Kerry from the Presidency. That will only address one important symptom of the underlying disease.

I agree that we must continue sharing the truth with the American people, until we expose all the tumors and neutralize them.
