Here is a sample letter that you can copy and paste and edit with your own information in order to receive your certificate. You also have to include a copy of your DD 214.
It only took about a month after sending the letter before I received mine.
It is signed by Secretary Rumsfeld. Do it now in case Kerry gets elected and selects Alec Baldwin or some other lunatic as Secretary of Defense.

Hmmm...No medal authorized. For a moment there I thought there was a chance I'd double my medal count.

I found out about this thing from military.com. If I remember right it was started a few years ago. I personally don't want it. I feel that i served in peacetime in the 80's and am proud to have served but come on now, it was still peacetime. we have fight here now and we need people to get the word out, if after the fight we want some frivilous piece of paper to announce how we served during a period of no fighting then by all means do so.
