This is a interesting read, it seems the Kerry group may be saying he has
a medal on his uniform that should not be there.?

I do not know how true etc all this is, but it is better to know I would think.

Do not know if this is going far as DU is mentioned and they are
convinced he is guilty of wearing a medal he did not get. Confused

No, that ribbon is a unit citation that the UNIT he was assigned to rated since 1966. He was required to wear it while assigned to the unit.

In the USMC, for example, f you are assigned to the 6th Marine Regiment, you are required to wear the French Fourregiere -- even though it was awarded in 1918. The same is true in the Army for unit citations (seen over the RIGHT pocket of the Class A uniform).

I'm not real up on USAF regs, but there should be a USAF instruction somewhere covering it.

You gotta love it, the Kerry Kamp is running scairt!

The Kerry campaign is so incompetent. George Bush didn't make that era in his life the centerpiece of his campaign. This will keep the medal controversy in the news, which is bad for Kerry.

I think you guys have already knocked Kerry out. The ref is just about to start the 10-count.

Can you smell the desparation in the air?

Geez! Hate to hear what they would have said about mine! I wore awards on mine that were Awarded in WWII to my Unit and are still worn today. Presidential Unit Citations, French Fuerre De Guerre (Wish they would go with the Belgian Fuerre De Guerre instead though)
Got worse when I went to Italy LOL!! I was a PFC wearing more brass than you could find in a 60 ammo box Rolling Eyes

Oh, personally, I'd LOVE to the the Democrats try to make hay with this one. They'd be burying themselves in their own rhetoric.

And if the democrats get all upset about a unit citation, then I'm sure they'll be even MORE upset when they find out that some of Kerry's medals are questionable.

I find it VERY ironic that the DU can vet a relatively obscure unit citation (not disparaging the award, just on the order of precedence, it's pretty far down the ladder) and NOT vet Kerry's rack.

Cipher when I got there the 509 was disbanded and reflagged as the 4/325 ABCT.

On that note, I will be moving this on into the Geedunk Forum momentarily

If it's a Presidential Unit Citation, anyone assigned to a unit that has received it in the past is entitled to wear it while in the unit, if you are assigned to a unit at the time it is awarded, you can wear it forever (after leaving the unit). I know this for a fact, as I received it while assigned to Nellis in 73 (permanent), then transferred to Udorn, Thailand 432 TFW, which had received 2 before my arrival. I was authorized to wear the PUC w/2 oak leaf clusters until I left that unit. Don't worry about this regarding Bush, if the TANG unit had ever received a PUC, prior to or during Bush's service, he was authorized to wear the award. Let them accuse him, it's most likely nothing.
