I tried the links previously provided but never actually found all the Silver Star Citations side by side, so I decided to just make one. I made a PDF as well as a webpage which are the enlarged versions of the graphic below. I find it much easier to compare the documents this way.

I hope this helps,

Thank you. It's good to see them side by side.

Those are for the Bronze Star, not the Silver Star.

At any rate, the one without the Official Record was posted first. The problem was that it would not match the one from the Paperless Archives which had the stamp on it and has been available since June. Someone posted the wrong version, probably of many different versions to their website.

Yes, I just made the image height longer and pasted it together. You can still see where it cut off because I left a wider space.

From Bandit's Hideout

Here is a interesting table comparison of the citations:

I have a question that maybe is nothing but I am not familar with the way Citations are written.

Why do the Citations all say
JOHN FORBES KERRY
LIEUTENANT JUNIOR GRADE
UNITED STATES NAVAL RESERVE?

Shouldn't they say ACTIVE DUTY or nothing at all?
Isn't the Navy Reserve different than normal service?

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks,

SBD

If I am not mistaken, and I often am, it's an Officer thing. The ROTC that trains on campuses is the Reserve Officers Training Corps. I knew many O's in my time that were Reserves, on active duty. It has to do with their obligation for the education that got them the commission. On their ID Cards, for EAOS/ETS Date it said "Indefinite."
