When one looks back to the 2000 election and compares how it is covered today vs. then, one has to conclude that Bush would’ve won the popular vote in 2000 if today’s news reporting applied to then. Add to this equation the SBVT, then I feel safe to conclude that Bush would’ve defeated Gore by a landslide. Why?

Fox News did not have the viewer numbers in 2000 that it has today. The news was still dominated by the ABCs back then. But, in 2004 with the SBVT ads and O’Neill’s book added to the mix, we all have the honor to witness the implosion of the Democratic Party and the liberal news media.

The liberal pundits on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, CNN (Crossfire), MSNBC, NY Times, and LA Times, and more are all falling apart. They’re screaming their heads off or reporting false polls in Kerry’s favor to try and get the momentum back. It ain’t happening.

I give most of the credit for this event to Fox News and the SBVT. The SBVT are the bravest bunch of vets I’ve ever seen (well, the vets storming the beaches of Normandy are up there, too). Keep it going SBVT – you may transform journalism back to what it was intended to be while healing the wounds of Vietnam.

I think we better give the Drudge Report some recognition here. He seemed to be way ahead of FOX News and any other media outlet.

Good addition -- I emphasized Fox News because it and talk radio have driven the change in content for news for the better.

Certainly Drudge is a major source of news, and has broken some of the hottest news items of our time, exclusively. The Lewinski scandal is probably the most recognized of those. But, it must be pointed out that the overwhelming majority of the stories on the Drudge web site are links to other, already published stories. Drudge is very useful as a center from which to view various stories from various unconnected media sources. Matt Drudge offers little comment on his web site, which is his connection to the masses. Fox news is mainly about comment. Two very different formats.

If the "NEW" media would have been in place in 1971 do you think Kerry would even be running for CIC in 04?

So do you agree that the media has contributed to the wrongful depiction of veterans and members of our military?

I don't quite understand your question. If you read my original post to this thread, you'll understand my position on this subject.

Certainly Drudge should be named as I listened to him on Sunday for the
first time and there is no doubt he is for the republicans and the Swiftvets,
none at all!

The bloggers who have followed the Swiftvets campaign are to be
credited as well, they have been real attack dogs on Kerry and his
group. Their posts are intelligent for the most part, with Hugh Hewitt
being one of the strongest, he is a real attack dog with no loss of
enthusiasm on the worst days. Smile

It has been a great campaign and it is hard to really think it is happening
some days, it is making so many changes, wonderful Smile

I second the motion on the importance and influence of the Drudge Report. He has centralized the breaking news by posting what is truly important to the simply tabloid bizzarre and letting his readers (viewers) decide if it's news or not.

In a small but critical way, he's a revoluntionary. How Americans once received news will never be same in the post-Drudge era.

Let me say that there is absolutely no doubt about the complicity of the media in left wing agandas. John F-ing Kerry AND the willing media, along with left wing demonstrators and supporters are responsible for 100% of the wrongs directed at military personnel. It's the enemy within.

Lew Waters linked this great site which exhaustively references the deception perpetrated by the MSM, in the late 60 early 70's.

Obviously the New Media would have made some sort of difference, but considering the vast scope of the (Communist) MSM propaganda I don't think it would have been enough to change the future.

The point I am making is that the 1971 media was out of wack and the "NEW" is doing a better job at getting to the truth.

Gotcha. And, if today's media had been covering the news of the VVAW in 1971, along with the SBVT having the same tools they have today (website and the book), I think Kerry would've ended up in court.

The Drudge radio show is another format altogether. This is where Matt offers cogent comment, and asks pointed questions. The radio is where he is most partisan, and where he's most supportive of conservative agendas, including the swiftees. This is no trashing of his web site, but one cannot get a feeling for Matt's attitudes from the web site unless they spend enough time there to read what stories he posts. In other words the web site is far more subtle. And the most common comment from Matt Drudge on his web site is ------"developing". I always get a mental image of Matt rubbing his hands together, and grinning like the Cheshire Cat. when he posts the word---------"deveolping".
