Paul "PT" Kemper back on board. Served almost 5 years (actually 4 yrs 9 months and 11 days according to DD214, but who's counting) in the greatest military service in the world - the U.S. Navy. Trained in ASW at Key West and North Island SD, then sent to Viet Nam. Discovered Charlie didn't have any subs, so I became a machine gunner on river patrol based out of Da Nang. Wasn't on a swift boat, more like a slow boat, also known as a "tin can". After two tours in country, got discharged in 1967 and enrolled in college. My first encounter with the "kerry types". Their ignorance and hate of our servicemen left me with a disgust that still remains. Thanks to those who put this into operation so that real patriots can have a voice for democracy. |
