I see where Kerry is touting his 2 tours of duty. I thaught that each year in Nam was a tour of duty.

Someone explain to me where I am wrong...

Thanks..

From redleg to redleg, Kerry's probably served a tour in each of his two America's. Embarassed

Guess I missed that one, where's the resource?

He's counting his 4 mos. as one tour.

Also counting 6 weeks or so of sea duty off the coast in early 68. Rolling Eyes

No self respecting sailor I ever met would count that a tour of duty. Just a self-aggrandizing politician like Kerry. Wink

No self respecting soldier or marine I ever met would accept a Purple Heart for what he did either Wink

If you will observe John Kerry's exact wording on two tours of duty, he uses the weasel way out and NEVER actually mentions Viet Nam. He allows the public's imagination to fill in the blanks.

That's a switch - he has been known to include "two tours in Vietnam" in his speeches.

It think it was a switch. He's only been doing it since SBVFT called him on it. He's probably taking advice from his henchmen and this latest switch is subtle and most people don't notice.
I think this is a means where he doesn't have to retract his statement, he just makes this subtle switch and smiles and goes on with his business. I.e., the public is duped and nobody notices.

He rode a rickshaw on a tour of downtown Saigon. That's his second tour.

Well, he may call that excursion off California, and then off the coast of Viet Nam a tour, but I still think I have more time in the chow line, off the coast of Laos, Viet nam, than he has at sea!

That said, I received the "show up" ribbons, but never anything higher than that. Thank God, that while I was in the area, I didn't see an enemy anything, and the wouldent allow us to beach the carrier to chase down a wounded kid!

Well, the navy investigation, if it 's not de-railed by someone will show up this gedunk hero for what he realy is! an opportunist, who would, and did say anything to get a vote. I think of friends who are on the wall, and feel ashamed that this wonderfull country could produce such an individual as John F. Kerry!
