Not sure whether the charge of less visitors to SBVT is accurate but SBVT should issue press release to refute charge if it is inaccurate. Could be spin from liberal media to diminish the importance of this web site.

DRILLING DOWN/ELECTION WEB SITES
Kerry Generates Hits
The heated dispute over John Kerry’s war record may not be helping John Kerry the candidate, but it seems to be stirring interest in John Kerry the Web site. According to figures from Nielsen/NetRatings, visitors to Mr. Kerry’s campaign site (www.johnkerry.com) more than doubled in the third week in August, as the charges and countercharges over his service in Vietnam made headlines.
Opposition sites including ScaryJohnKerry.com also enjoyed traffic increases during the debate. The curious exception is the official site for the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (www.swiftvets.com), the group that initiated the attacks on Mr. Kerry. As its charges became more widespread, the number of visitors dwindled. It does seem to suggest that the Internet was the catalyst, said Kenneth Cassar, a director at Nielsen/NetRatings. But once mainstream media covered the story, fewer people visited the Web site.
In other ways, behavior on political sites is more predictable. The biggest draw on the Kerry site, for example, is a petition entitled ‘‘Tell George Bush: Stop the Smear Campaign: Get Back to the Issues.’’ While 35 percent of visitors to the site began filling out the petition, only 19 percent completed it. This completion rate is similar to those for checkout forms on shopping sites, according Mr. Cassar: ‘‘It’s funny how close they are to one another.’’

I think that what the reporter is looking at is the result of moving the Swifts main site off of the same server as the bulletin board!
OF COURSE the traffic to the site dwindled! LOL! _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

That and its the NY Times reporting this. They are about as biased a newspaper that there is in this country. Theyll print anything to make Kerry look good. Even if its something as minor as website hits. _________________ Dragoro's Realm

I suspect a simple answer here... folks are coming straight into the message forum or another bookmarked page after their first visit, or folks being referred from other sites may be following deep links to a specific page or message thread, so the home page could get fewer hits while traffic remains constant or increases. Could also be that this site is attracting fewer new visitors now because those who were interested found it already. There is an upper limit. I remain unimpressed with the typical journalist's grasp of the Web and how things work. This "data" is not very important or relevant. The money, now that's another story If the donations continue, that's the bottom line. |

Nor should it be forgotton that there is a rapidly growing population of web entities that are getting involved in the exploration of this effort. Swiftvets.com and the blogosphere may no longer be the only dance in town. |

Over 42,000 contributors and over $3 million can't all be wrong, hm?
Can't argue with success - but it sure looks like the NYT is trying! _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

We're all heading over there to see what been taken down or changed with no explanation.
And to see what the "Rabid Response" team is saying now as opposed to what he said yesterday. _________________ What about John Kerry's four months in Vietnam qualify him to be president?
Al Gore was there for five. |

AMEN!
Imagine how many hits it would get if he had ALL his unedited records up. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |

That's what I was thinking. There are probably a lot of hits because the undecideds are trying to see both sides of the issue, which any intelligent person should do.
I admit I've visited the kerry site recently looking for information there. I want to get both sides of the story, any person who wants to make an educated decision would do so.
But it shouldn't mean that we back down! |

Internet "Hits" are an interesting statistic.
What is even more interesting is what those "hits" equate to
in terms of actions taken.
Do they "donate, buy, contribute" or are they just IP address "hits"
I can write a program that runs all day "hitting" a site.
But what has happened at that site counts.
The NYTimes dodged the most important issue of the Polls
but will spend hours rolling little balls of sh*t and placing them
on their nose. |

How would they know? Maybe they visited the sight in the late afternoon and the next day early in the morning to make such a statement! Wouldn't surprise me. That is just too funny! They must really be worried I'm not! I think the truth is getting out about John Kerry regardless of how much the MSM have really tried to suppress the truth. Funny about the truth...always has a way of rearing it's head when you least expect it!

They are certainly wrong, I have been on this site since August 15 or
around there and the registration of members have been awesome for
a website that is not advertised.
Yup, they are not missing the tiniest little nastie now! The Times are
fighting for their own life here. as each day their bias is becoming more
and more obvious to the voters and so instead of becoming a bit fair,
they get more biased. This move reminds me of Kerry of the foot in
mouth politics. _________________ Swiftvets rock! |
